Kremlin Dusk

This is my fav song on "Exodus," it's the one most like the songs she does in Japanese.

This song is a catchy one. it starts out pretty cool really so i'd recommend you listen to it. i think it tells about her life, like most of the other songs in her cd Exodus.

I like this song, but I've only been listening to it for about an hour. It looks like a big allusion to Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" (not hard to figure out since she does actually use his name). It's about a lost love (from reading a few lines in "The Raven", I would assume Lenore is a dead/lost love) and a longing to have him/her back, while really knowing it is impossible. =/ Gah, this is kinda deep. Now it's got me thinking, and I'm supposed to go to bed now. =_=

This song - Kremlin Dusk - is beautifully written. Why aren't there more comments for the better songs in the world? To me it's about a mourn for someone dearly beloved and the loneliness within yourself, very similar to Poe's grief for his wife Virginia. and in song form if whoever that Hikki misses happened to listen to this song, she asks him if he finds any personal feelings from it too..

I've always thought that Kremlin Dusk was about moving on after a breakup or something like that. This is why I think so:

The first part makes sence, since "Lenore" is a lost love, and the person in the text is drinking because - let's say it's a he, just like Poe; he actually had drinking issues too - misses the lost love. 'The Raven' is a symbol of his madness and self-torture. But then the person realizes that his love isn't going to come back, and he has become sober.

In the first part he says that he never will be haunted be the past, but in fact... it's a fight... he is talking to himself. He can't decide whether he'll move on, or wait for the person who's not going to return to him.

He is a natural entertainer, so he makes it through the day, it's easy to pretend like everything is fine, but like he says, he's holding pieces of dying ember (in 'The Raven' the dying ember is memories of the lost love). He runs a secret propaganda (and that's my favourite line). He acts like he's fine, but if you look closely, there is so many signs that shows that he isn't, and he is actually calling for help.

The last part is about how he wants to move on, although he wants to stay because he still loves 'Lenore'. He is torn by the arms in opposite directions, and asks himself if it's always like that, when you lose someone you love.

This song is amazing, the best song of Hikki in my opinion as well, but, after read these comments and know more about Edgar's "The Raven", I have one question... Why "Kremlin Dusk"?

I know Kremlin (Russian) = Fortress in English, or, also, could be Moscovo's Kremlin, the Russia's Government seat, but I can't understand why "Kremlin Dusk" the name of this song.

i think this song is about apathy taking over you towards someone you used to love deeply. it maybe have been cause by what she says in this quote:

"By the door, you said you had to go Couldn't help me any, anymore. This I saw coming long before So I kept on staring out the window."

she knew instincly that he would leave her eventually so she simply stoped careing. became distant.

i kind felt this way when this song first came out too! not fun at all. but this song really seemed to echo my situation.

After listening to this song and reading Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" about 500 times, I would have to say this song is incredibly well-written. It makes great use of Edgar Allan Poe's metaphors and such to express a somewhat different idea. Allusions to Edgar Allen Poe that really jump out are "Now I'm sober and nevermore/Will the Raven come to bother me at home." "The Raven" is basically about a man who was sitting, thinking about Lenore, a dead woman who he loved, when the raven taps on his door. When he gets up to open the door and no one is there, he mutters Lenore's name and it echoes (though I'm not sure if the Raven was shouting back Lenore, or if it was just an echo). Then, throughout the poem, the man talks to the raven, which was perched on the bust above his door, only to receive the same repetitive response, "Nevermore!" A less obvious allusion that I noticed was, "I am a natural entertainer,/Aren't we all holding pieces of dying ember?" And to quote "The Raven," "Each dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor." In "The Raven," the dying embers are presented as what once was, memories of his lost (dead) love, Lenore (which is the name Poe actually uses). I think the door and window might be an allusion, too, but that requires more thinking. @_@

i love how the distortions on her voice sounds in the "by the door, you said you had to go, couldn't help me anymore" part...
