"You Make Me Want To Be A Man" as written by and Hikaru Utada....
I really want to tell you something
This is just the way I am
I really want to tell you something, but I can't
You make me want to be a man

Arguments that have no meaning
This is just the way I am
You really want to tell me something, bu you can't
You make me want to be a man

The thunder and the rain called you and you came
We didn't need to say much to communicate
Now it's different; 99% is misinterpreted

I really want to tell you something
This is just the way I am
I really want to tell you something, but I can't
You make me want to be a man

Arguments that have no meaning
This is just the way I am
You really want to tell me something, bu you can't
You make me want to be a man

Every word you say finds a home in me
Nothing that anyone could ever say
Could hurt me like this
Baby please, don't light that cigarette
Don't light that cigarette

I really want to tell you something
This is just the way I am
I really want to tell you something, but I can't
You make me want to be a man

Arguments that have no meaning
This is just the way I am
You really want to tell me something, bu you can't
You make me want to be a man

I really want to tell you something
This is just the way I am
I really want to tell you something, but I can't
You make me want to be a man

Arguments that have no meaning
This is just the way I am
You really want to tell me something, bu you can't
You make me want to be a man

General CommentUtada-san said this one herself. This song is about how she used to get into fights with her husband all the time. She felt that they were so distant and couldn't understand each other. And she got to thinking. Perhaps, if she was a man, she would be able to understand him better.

    General Commenti agree with orangewaxlion

i think she is trying to communicate with this person but because of the rift her words are being misinterpreted by him and vice versa. so she wishes that she were a man so they can talk things out properly. because of this rift gender-wise they can't talk directly and get things out. the mysterious distance between a man and a woman.

General CommentActually, I saw her in an interview, and she wrote it after having an argument with her husband, and she wished that she was a guy so that they would be on the same page, so that she could see it from his point of view.

General CommentThe ciggarette part has been bothering people but I think I have an idea.

Sometimes when people smoke they use it as a comfort or escape when someone bad happens. If Hikaru were to have gotten into a fights with her husband a lot and he started to smoke more often she could be upset. The fact that she's the reason he's smoking more and we all know somking isn't good for you.

I think the smoking could mean he gave up on finding a solution and listening to her and just lit a cig.

I'd be upset if someone did that to me.

General Commentlol, I think we're all lost on this song. Even Utada is...
    "Now its different
    99 percent
    Is misinterpreted "

    lol. Catchy tune, however.
