The Scorpion and the Frog is a fable of unknown author, though often mis-attributed to Aesop.[1] The story is about a scorpion asking a frog to carry him across a river. The frog is afraid of being stung, but the scorpion reassures him that if it stung the frog, the frog would sink and the scorpion would drown as well. The frog then agrees; nevertheless, in mid-river, the scorpion stings him, dooming the two of them. When asked why, the scorpion explains, "I'm a scorpion; it's my nature."
This song is obviously about human nature, and the fact that we betray and deceive. The "Scorpion" is a great metaphor for humans.

Personally, I think this song is more political. The "scorpion" is the metaphor of a backstabber. The person manipulates others to get only what he wants, and after he's done with whoever, he just backstabs them and leaves them for dead.
I don't really know how he was a bully. Even reviews of the album this song was on (The System has Failed), states this album and all the songs on it are heavily political.

Also, the cover art and title name show that the album is about politics. Unless of course you just downloaded the song rather than bought the CD as I have. =)

One of the things about music that people love to do is react to the emotion that the song invokes in the individual in a way that they apply the song to their own circumstances... that's the beauty and cathartic aspect of music. However, that leaves out the actual message of the song most of the time. In other words - the song is about something that Dave Mustain made it about - not about what people "think" it's about because of what they apply it to in their own lives,...

This is an easy one to figure out. Look at the first line of each verse:
"My life is everything that feeds my thirst that causes sin..."
"Me self I'm centered in, there's nothing else, there's never been..."
And then look at the last words of the song:
"I'm the fall of man..."
The lyrics in verses 1 & 2 are elaboration and support to those opening lines and then the chorus is about "the scorpion" injecting it's venom - a metaphor for the negative consequences. In the finale he flat out states: "I'm the fall of man..." The Scorpion is the fall of man - sin. In the song Mustain creates a symbol out of sin, making it into a tangible object itself separate of the human condition. In this case the "sin" is a scorpion rather than a condition of being or state of existence. This lyrical "trick" is how he is able to make such poetry out of the subject matter, as well as why it can be so elusive and cryptic in it's actual meaning.
The song is about being filled with sin and selfishness. What kind of sin and selfishness? Well that he doesn't elaborate on... but knowing him - probably drug abuse and narcissism. So in effect, you could apply this song to whatever your circumstances are and it may be relevant... but the song itself isn't about anything more specific than the emptiness of sin, and self betrayal of one who is entirely self centered in their own condition.

Well it`s obvious the song concerns drug dillers, although the radiovoice in the beginning is speaking about drugs..
This song does not signify the use or abuse of drugs, the TV reports are just add-ons signifing ways of backstabbing, the lyrics alone can show you for example 'as i climb onto your back i promise not to sting' First step acknowledged "Trust'' with trust the 'scorpion' a simile used to personify the back stabber, scorpions are one of the many creatures in this world that cannot express facial expressions for the mere fact that their face has no true detail, basically they have a constant poker face just what a back stabber needs to get into your head if they let off any sign that they are gonna let you down then they are how do i say 'fucked', many people think that gazing into the eyes of the scorpion will let off a sign if it is just warning you or is actually about to sting 'look deep into my face sell deceit without a trace' that there says it all. Just simply this song is about becoming good friends with someone gaining their trust and taking them down.
I believe this song is similair to She-Wolf, simply about deceptive women. Besides, the She-Wolf section on their official website was names to "The Scorpion" when this album was released. Isn't that an indication.
Also the last line"I'm not, a lowly scorpion, I'm so much worse - I'm the fall of man" is also a dead give away, lol.
