Anything Else But The Truth Lyrics

Pulled from seclusion, dragged out of our room
This construction is perfectly obstructing the view
Paired up and placed back in our path
Compressed in this space that frames an awkward act
The chance to make it last has come and gone

Glass shatters with an unsteady grip
No chance to catch the blood as it comes rushing in
Too quickly pumping out from the inside
Dripping into the patterns strewn across my thigh

Each drop spreads and spells out a passage
Soon I’ll reclaim this dull history
The seamstress weaves in the stitches
But re-opens that same memory

Two years have passed and nothing’s changed, that’s alright
Still you just wait for that embrace, it’s alright
There is only one thing that has yet to be said, I am holding back
There is only one thing that has yet to be said, I’m holding back

Doesn’t matter there’s no need to persist
While avoiding all that that kiss
Scraping my cheeks with your passionless lips
From your side of things it’s not quite over with

I don’t think that you warrant anything else but the truth
Sorry, this time I’ve out done it
Cause I know that, I know that you’ll lose

I don’t think that she noticed that there was anything wrong at all
Finally I’m free to leave
I don’t ever really wanna pull and push again unless you’re gonna fall
There is only one thing that has yet to be said, I’m holding back

I'm thinking this song is about a woman who he has gone out with who has stronger feelings for him then he has for her and everytime they're back together he seems to hold back his love.

I think this song is about two people who shouldn't be together but keep trying.

First, he describes them being together as an "awkward act." He also says "the chance to make it last has come and gone," so they screwed things up in the past and there isn't a chance that they can make everything like it was.

To me "Glass shatters with an unsteady grip No chance to catch the blood as it comes rushing in Too quickly pumping out from the inside Dripping into the patterns strewn across my thigh" means that something damaged their relationship (their relationship being the glass). Once damaged it caused injury to both of them (cutting of an arm) and they were both kept hurting each other, drawing blood. The blood that keeps flowing out and can't be stopped resembles this.

Two years after that the damage is done to their relationship she thinks there is still something there; maybe they never officially ended things or did so in a dubious way. He doesn't want to be with her but he has trouble telling her. Even though she doesn't think its over I think she's not REALLY in it like you would think. He describes her lips as "passionless" - not exactly a way to describe someone who is entirely into a relationship.

Finally, now that it is over he's glad to be free from trying over and over again and being trapped into things with her.

sorry if i am completely wrong. i tried to go chunk by chunk :)

I love the honorary title! I agree with Mea845. Basically he has felt trapped in this relationship for 2 years and feels that it is over "The chance to make it last has come and gone; Two years have passed and nothing’s changed" .But he cant break free from it since he is hesitant to tell her how he really feels "There is only one thing that has yet to be said, I am holding back", maybe he is afraid of hurting her because she is more invested in the relationship than he is "From your side of things it’s not quite over with" and she still waits for and wants his embrace. He on the otherhand wants no intimacy with her, he avoids her kiss and as she goes for it he turns his head and she gets his cheek "Scraping my cheeks with your passionless lips". She doesnt seem to sense that anything is wrong in their relationship "I don’t think that she noticed that there was anything wrong at all" but he has felt it has been a struggle for sometime now "I don’t ever really wanna pull and push again "

Now I could be wrong about this part, but I think he is finally going to tell her that it's over, he believes she deserves to know how he feels "I don’t think that you warrant anything else but the truth" then he will be free "Finally I’m free to leave".

Good song!
