(i think)this song is carl telling pete that his drug use is getting out of control and that he's got such a bright future
road to ruin was also a ramones album and the boy looked at johnny was a book about punk they are linking past punk into their music.
This song surprised me, because I thought it was very different from the rest of the album. Not in a bad way, but just different. Did Carl write it?

"Road to Ruin the libs album version... me and Biggles. he wrote the 'bent back peddlars..' detour and i wrote the main riff and verses. I think"
