The Saga Lyrics
A problem, becomes a problem
When you let down your friends
When you let down the people
When you let down yourself
Oh, and only fools, vultures and undertakers
Will have any time for you
Oh
A problem, becomes a problem
When you lie to your friends
And you lie to your people
And you lie to yourself
And the truth's too harsh to comprehend
You just pretend there isn't a problem
I am a pimp and a slave
I dig my bed you dig my bed
I dig my grave
And the truth's too harsh to comprehend
You just pretend there isn't a problem
No no, I ain't got a problem
It's you with the problem!
When you let down your friends
When you let down the people
When you let down yourself
Oh, and only fools, vultures and undertakers
Will have any time for you
When you lie to your friends
And you lie to your people
And you lie to yourself
You just pretend there isn't a problem
I dig my bed you dig my bed
I dig my grave
And the truth's too harsh to comprehend
You just pretend there isn't a problem
No no, I ain't got a problem
It's you with the problem!

simply about pete's drug problems in my opinion, he is honest at first but always ends up dilluding himself into thinking he hasnt got a problem:
"no no, i aint got a problem"
very honest song and interesting as pete hasnt really held much back
Yeah, this song is painfully honest. I wonder how his friends feel about being called "fools, vultures and undertakers", heh.
the "i am a pimp and a slave" line worried me cause of the tabloids bout Pete being a pimp.lol
Pete talks like a typical junkie in this song, when he slyly says, 'No no, I ain't got a problem. It's you with the problem' Yeah it is a very honest song. A very honest album in fact, one that I find quite heartbreaking.
In an interview with the Gay Times Pete said that at one time when he was vulnerable and hard-up he'd been a rent-boy. Maybe that's behind the 'I am a pimp and a slave'.
This is totally a drug song. It's one of my favorite Libertine songs. Pete is being so honest.
He's basically talking about his addiction and self destruction. The people that he cares about who he has let down as a result. The fact that he has a problem is too much to handle so he pretends it doesn't exist. After pushing his friends away the only people he is surrounded by are "bad people" that don't really give a shit about him.
apparently the lyrics from this song r based on a letter to pete from some guy called paul roundhill who was his "literary manager" or something.
This song really sums up drug addiction. you have a problem but its so big you cant comprehend it and the moment you have to face it you hide away, denying it andnormally takin more of the drug to forget you have a problem...and so the cycle goes on, you dig a deeper hole, which is unfortunetly what peter himself ended up doing.
this song is really gay and so are you you should go die
this kind of seems like a different version of the sentiment in babyshambles' la belle et la bete it's about coming to terms with your issues (namely drugs) and realizing that your digging yourself into a hole and then needing drugs even more to escape from the shit-heap reality because "the truth's too hard to comprehend"
and realizing that you let down everyone who was really on your side so your only 'friends' either don't know any better or want to use you
