Emotional Drought Lyrics

It's possible that the worst
Of the inside
Could take our pencils away
End creating
Can't let the teachers lay waste
Of a new mind
Prevent emotional drought
And watch the pace quicken
Try to never touch
Try to never touch

Won't keep holding back my conscious
Realize
There's a choice to not end up like you
Not end up like you

Let's turn our wretched debates into action
By diplomacy gain, back a handshake
Tied and unable to tend, to the wounds that were made
So much closer to shame we see but never touch
never touch
Try to never touch
Try to never touch

Won't keep holding back my conscious
Realize
There's a choice to not end up like you
Not end up like you

Search
For
Truth

One more man, Tearing at the throat of
One more man, Never dropped as fast as
One more man, Coloring the fate of
One more man, Is better than the fate of you

Try to never touch
Try to never touch

Won't keep holding back my conscious
Realize
There's a choice to not end up like you
Not end up like you

holding back my conscious
Realize
There's a choice to not end up like you
Not end up like you

Not end up like you....

My fave too...this song sorta has a Maynard twang to it, with the question authority, think for yourself theme involved, very heavy, loud, and badass... love the elongated bridge and than back to the bass-layden riff, awesome song and CD BTW...

This song is about preventing an existence in a dystopian future, as is evidenced by the first half of the song. It's a warning against not thinking for yourself, and not questioning the direction our society is heading. It's a wake up call. We can not achieve a higher standard of living when so much of our culture is in ignorance.

I looooove Chevelle!! I agree that this song is about him wanting to write his own music but having the producers changing everything, but of course that's just how I see it. I hate how everybody on here's saying how theirs are the only true explanations. I believe that while any songwriter, Chevelle included, has his/her own ideas when they write music, it's meant to be interpreted differently by anyone who hears it. What Songmeanings is for is to offer suggestions to people, any of which they can cling to and say "wow, that makes a lot of sense!".

@MusicStuff0405 yeah, especially w some of the Jesus Freaks around here always interpreting how EVERY song is about Jesus H. Christ.

This song freakin rocks! The whole cd completely kicks ass, but I'd have to say this one is my favorite.

This is definately my favorite song from Chevelle. This song is about how many governments and organizations try to keep their people ignorant so they can rule over them. Further, they add in parts of the song where they are talking to those "sheep" who think only in conformity due to these powers.

Hell yes. This song is true Chevelle talent. I just love how every word is reinforcment to stand up for yourself and dont let those in charge take away our freedoms. This is so inspiring for people to go out and reinspire others...and to just push yourself beyond the borders of limited thought. But more specifically, I totally see references to disatisfaction with the current state of the US Government.

I think this song is about being different from the rest of society.... whether it's that the government wants us all to conform or on a personal level where you're being pressured to be like every one else... I think it's encouraging individuality and obviously promoting everyone's right to be themselves.

I really like Redline03GT's comment. I've said that a couple songs could possibly be about Bush, though probably about something deeper, in fear that I would get bitched at. lol. Anyways great song.
