Where Will You Go (First Edition) Lyrics

You're too important for anyone
There's something wrong with everything you see
But I, I know who you really are
You're the one who cries when you're alone

Where will you go with no one left to save you from yourself?
You can't escape, you don't want to escape

However did you manage to push away
Every living thing you come across?
So afraid that anyone will hate you
You pretend you hate them first

And where will you go?
With no one left to save you from yourself
You can't escape the truth
I realize you're afraid
But you can't refrain from everything
You can't escape,
You can't escape

I'm so sick of speaking words that no one understands
Is it clear enough that you can't live your whole life all alone?
I can hear you when you whisper, but you can't even hear me screaming

And where will you go?
With no one left to save you from yourself
You can't escape the truth
I realize you're afraid
But you can't reject the whole world!
You can't escape
You won't escape
You can't escape
You don't want to escape

I really love this song, however, she doesn't sing it all that well...she's somewhat off key on parts of it. It makes a little more sense and realisticness, while the second version says, "You think that I can't see right through your eyes scared to face reality. No one seems to hear your hidden cries, and you're left to face yourself alone". This one kind of turns it around and makes this person the bad one. Amy's more singing about this person's bad qualities with a little less pity than she does in the second version.

First i would like to say that I would like to see my_tourniguet do better when that was done back in 1999 or so. I have all her songs..... This song really relates to alot of peoples lifes i think. Its almost as if your lost in your own world and you don't know where to go...... and the truth is what your trying to escape becuase its so bad.

It's good, but the other version is much better in my opinion. I agree, this is less 'let me help you' and more 'I just to help here, geez!' And she is a bit off-key, but I doubt I could have done much better.

Erm, I agree with what everybody else said. This version was released on the Evanescence EP, and you can really tell by listening to it that Amy's gotten better since then. This gives me hope that with enough practice, I too can become a rock star!

...Okay, maybe not. But yeah. =p

She IS a tad off key, especially when she says "You pretend you hate them first". But anyhow, I LOOOVE this song. I think it's actually about someone who acts all important when people are around but is depressed when they're alone, and finally, when people know enough about them, they leave him to fend for himself instead of giving him attention. And the "you don't want to escape" and the "you won't escape" thing is about not being able to escape the attention you want, but not wanting to escape it either because the person is greedy. A truly sad, haunting song....
