Valley of the Damned Lyrics

On a cold dark winter night, hidden by the stormy light
A battle rages for the right, for what will become
In the valley of the damned, a warrior with sword in hand
Travels fast across the land, for freedom he rides

And the sign from the master on high
He screams aloud and across hear the cry
For the kingdom of fire and ice
And the power to be alive

Be strong ride on, carry on through the war
Come along carry on, living for ever more

On the wings of death, by the hands of doom
By the darkest light, from the darkest moon
Crossing silent seas, over mountains high
For we stand as one tonight

On the black wind forever we ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom our guide
When the master will call us
He'll stand high before us
Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light

In the valley of the damned
Days breaks with golden strand
Over pastures green it glows
To where night returns

In the shadows faces appear
Warriors wearing full metal gear
Join together one and all before the glorious light
Rise up, gather round, come and hear what is said
Use your senses open your mind don't you ever forget

On the wings of life, by the hands of hope
By the brightest light from the brightest sun
Crossing silent seas over mountains high
To the valley of the damned!

On the black wind forever we ride on together...

Dragonforce have stated in one of their interviews that the 'master' that is often depicted in their lyrics is in fact God, yes. ( since the band members are anglican).

On the wings of death, by the hands of doom By the darkest light, from the darkest moon Crossing silent seas, over mountains high For we stand as one tonight

This is about facing death.

On the wings of life, by the hands of hope By the brightest light from the brightest sun Crossing silent seas over mountains high To the valley of the damned!

And this is about going to heaven. ^_^

It's a song about growing up in a shitty hometown. But like most of their songs, it's got a strange mix between good and bad feelings. And the way I see it, they're basically saying that even when you grow up in the "valley of the damned" among ignorant and hateful people who don't even try to understand you, at the end of the day, it's still your hometown and you'll still feel nostalgic for it years later.

I think most of the songs on Valley of the Damned are centered around this sort of loose concept. The coming of age/leaving your hometown. It's just told through the images of swords and dragons.

i think this might be about a corrupted government controlling a corrupted land. a land that was rich and prosperous but now its been deduced to the valley of the damned. theres my power metal input. and man, what a solo

@dylan617 One of my favourite Dragonforce songs. Not only is the main solo great but that outro solo is melodic as fuck. I can't even handle it. It cuts right through me and tickles every nerve I have in a fiery orgasmic rage. Bands come and go but I've loved DF since I find out about them 10 odd years ago (before GH). Have to change my pants.

@dylan617 Was just trying to correct "find" to "found". Grrr double post.

i think this songs about life and death, just my take on it though. cos if you think of the valley as being death, then the songs singing about how life is a 'war' we all have to go through but have to stay strong right through it.

'Be strong ride on, carry on through the war Come along carry on, living for ever more'

and more on the note of death, the 'master' could be meant to be god.

'When the master will call us He'll stand high before us Our hearts filled with splendour Our swords will shine over the light'

its kind of saying as if meeting god after you die, you'll feel good...unsure on what swords could be tho

oh i just thought of it, maybe swords is lives.

"a warrior with sword in hand" (his life)

"our swords will shine over the light" (heaven is higher than the sun)

maybe lmao i dunno tbh

well start simple.. my initial interperetation is that the vally of the damned is a test for aspiering knights to prove there mettle. afterwords the knight waits to be summoned for battle, this will fill the knight with strength knowing that you are being depended on completely is an incredibble motivator, for men in particular.

I see this song as saying 'stick together with those you trust, and you'll overcome any adversity'.

Man, that's cool to hear that they're Anglican and not your steriotypical satanist metal band.. Anyways, yes, I believe that this song is another song about an epic battle.. But, I don't think it's so much your every day battle.

To me, the lyrics have always seemed to be about a battle between good and bad and the refference to the 'valley of the damned' leads me to believe that it's a fight between heaven and hell, which I get about a couple of their songs.. But I've always thought they were singing from the perspective of one of the warriors for the 'bad' side..
