The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You Lyrics

Gaze into her killing jar, I'd sometimes stare for hours (sometimes stare for hours)
She even poked the holes so I can breathe
She bought the last line
I'm just the worst kind
Of guy to argue
With what you might find
And for the last night I lie
Could I lie with you?

Alright
Give up
Get down
It's just the hardest part of living
Alright
She wants
It all
To come down this time

Lost in the prescription she's got something else in mind (something else in mind)
Check into the Hotel Bella Muerte
It gives the weak flight
It gives the blind sight
Until the cops come
Or by the last light
And for the last night I lie
Could I lie next to you?

Alright
Give up
Get down
It's just the hardest part of living
Alright
She wants
It all
To come down this time

Alright
Give up
Get down
It's just the hardest part of living
Alright
She wants
It all
To come down this time

Pull the plug
But I'd like to learn your name
When holding on
Well I hope you do the same
Awww sugar
Slip into this tragedy you've spun this chamber dry

Alright
Give up
Get down
It's just the hardest part of living
Alright
She wants
It all
To come down this time

Alright
Give up
Get down
It's just the hardest part of living
Alright
She wants
It all
To come down this time

Well, pull the plug
But I'd like to learn your name
And holding on
Well I hope you do the same
Awww sugar

Yeah I totally agree with it being about using meth. But to me it is more then that, it tells a story. I'll do a line by line.

"Gaze into her killing jar I'd sometimes stare for hours. She even poked the holes so I can breathe."

This is my favorite stanza! Awesome analogy. His girlfriend is addicted. And while she is under the control of meth, he is under her control.

"She bought the last line. I'm just the worst kind. Of guy to argue. With what you might find. And for the last night I lie. Could I lie with you?"

Right along with it, he is under her influence. He's a guy who has fallen for her and will do anything for her. Even live the life she lives.

"Alright... Give up. Get down. Its just the hardest part of living. She wants. It all to come down this time."

It's all about the neverending cycle of meth. The snake eating itself. You get up and it wears off. Then you take another hit. Up! ... then down... you get the picture. But this time on her downer she has become especially destructive.

It gives the weak flight. It gives the blind sight. Until the cops come. Or by the last light. And for the last night I lie. Could I lie next to you?

Drugs not only give you a euphoric feeling, (and this definitely depends on how you use it), but it also gives you a glimpse into your future self. Part of the emotion and high that stems from drugs really stems from you. That's why it affects everyone in a different way. You've heard the term high on life? Well, that is true. There is a way you can really find to be naturally high. And let me tell you, its better then a drug.

The weak (or meek) rise Those who cannot see who they really are now get the glimpse

First verse: Maybe they had an argument about her use of drug and it got pretty bad. Second verse: She didn't take it so well so she went out on her own, bought some more drugs, check into a hotel to do it (hotel Bella Muerte means hotel of beautiful death) and she got really high and then OD herself.

Now there're 2 theories i can think of but i can not make up my mind about it.

1st theory : the cops/ambulance (i dont really get the "last light" part, i guess it means ambulance's light) came for her body. But she didn't die, she's just in a coma.
This will explain "And for the last night i lie/Could I lie next to you". He properly heard the news and now he wished he had spent the night with her so he could have saved her from the OD. And he know that she would want this all to end. when he sings "Pull the plug" maybe it means he wants to just let her die, cut out of life support machines so he can end her misery. And he comfort himself by saying "I hope you'll do the same".

2nd theory : Maybe he got there when she OD, but he realize its enough and in his mind killing her will help her. So he killed her."Alright, give up, get down/It's just the hardest part of living./Alright, she wants/It all to come down this time." This chorus says he has pull himself together to do the hardest part, let her go, because thats what she wants. it will all end after this. "pull the plug" here maybe mean her life source. i like this one better cause its more old school MCR to me but either way they're very alike theories.

Tell me if im wrong but i think its a pretty interesting theory because it explains the "pull the plug" part which i've never seen anyone talk about before.

i also want to say that this song is followed by Interlude "Saints protect her now" so she's definitely dead and i think its brilliant.

I think this song is defeintly about addiction and suicide with constant talks of "holding on" and "the last night" and "when the cops come".. also i tihnk the line might be "You've SMOKED this chamber dry" as a drug reference, and this "Jetset lifestyle" is a drug reference i belive... hotel bella muerte i belive means the hotel of beautiful death... Hotel could be referecning a place that the mind goes temporarily.thats my thoughts tho.

It is spun, perhaps as in playing russian roullete with drugs...

And i don't think anyone would want to check into a hotel named "beautiful death" autumns gone... im pretty sure pitchfork has that part correct. The hotel of beautiful death seems to me like the afterlife... cool song anyway, i like how the ghost of you leads into it...

I concur. The new album is leaps and bounds from their earlier stuff. Every track on the album is an awesome, and much more 'grown up,' piece of music.

This may sound stupid but I think this song might be about being a famous person and having one-night stands

nah it's "youve spun this chamber drive"

hotel bella muerta is a reference to a certain hotel and..ok i can't remember, i just know it's from somewhere.

my favorite song off the album, absolutley gorgeous.

No, its 'spun this chamber dry' , according to the lyrics in the booklet of the album

"check into the hotel bella muerte" means "check into the hotel of beautiful death".
