Probably Lyrics
You probably don't wear your glasses
But you probably need them to read
And you probably value your downtime
And you probably don't get much sleep
And you probably don't like the movies
But you probably go anyway
And you probably fight with your mother a lot
When you feel like there's nothing to say
And you probably don't care for punk rock
But you probably own Nevermind
And you probably don't talk to strangers
But you wish they'd talk to you all the time
So I should probably say something to you
But I'd probably ruin it then
It's best for us both if I keep my mouth shut
And just stay on my side of the train
But you probably need them to read
And you probably value your downtime
And you probably don't get much sleep
And you probably don't like the movies
But you probably go anyway
And you probably fight with your mother a lot
When you feel like there's nothing to say
And you probably don't care for punk rock
But you probably own Nevermind
And you probably don't talk to strangers
But you wish they'd talk to you all the time
So I should probably say something to you
But I'd probably ruin it then
It's best for us both if I keep my mouth shut
And just stay on my side of the train

can someone tell me where i can download this song?
it's on "Split The Country, Split The Streets"
this song made me cry the first time I heard it.
Isn't it "but you probably love crooked rain"? As in the Pavement CD?
there are two versions of this song. on the album it's crooked rain
If you can, try to find the original version which is just acoustic. He sings in a different beat. It's on the ep "traveling on the eu". There is also a version of "You Are My Sunshine" and a slightly altered "Haircut" on it.
these lyrics are really wrong.
you probably can't stand your glasses, but you probably need them to read. and you probably waste all your downtime and you probably don't get much sleep. and you probably don't like the movies, but you probably go anyway. and you probably fight with your mother a lot when you feel like there's nothing to say. and you probably don't care for punk rock, but you probably love crooked rain. and you probably don't talk to strangers like me, but you wish we'd talk to you just the same. so i should probably say something to you, but i'd probably ruin it then. it's best for us both if i keep my mouth shut and just stay on my side of the train.
i enjoy the original version better. it's the reason i got into kevin. but basically the man can do no wrong.
Edited by delial on April 24 2008, at 11:47PM

okay. since there're two versions, there should be a second set of lyrics, right? so go eat shit and die. but not before you add those lyrics, DEAR.
this guy is hands down the greatest songwriter of our generation and there's no need for bickering amongst obvious fans of the guy's work. so love, respect, and live. i'm drunk and rocking out to his entire catalog right now and loving every minute of it.
Edited by delial on April 24 2008, at 11:48PM

wow upon listening to this song again it really relates to the situation that i'm in..
i think it's about having someone figured out, "so i should probably say something to you.." but then figuring it's just not worth it to try to tell them of their faults.. because it only causes more problems, as most people are just stubborn as hell (and it's true!)
