How can you see into my eyes like open doors?
Leading you down into my core
Where I've become so numb
Without a soul
My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home

(Wake me up) wake me up inside (I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside (save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark (wake me up)
Bid my blood to run (I can't wake up)
Before I come undone (save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become

Now that I know what I'm without
You can't just leave me
Breathe into me and make me real
Bring (bring) me (me) to life

(Wake me up) wake me up inside (I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside (save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark (wake me up)
Bid my blood to run (I can't wake up)
Before I come undone (save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become

Bring me to life
I've been living a lie
There's nothing inside
Bring me to life

Frozen (frozen) inside without your touch
Without your love, darling
Only (only) you are the life among the dead

All of this time, I can't believe I couldn't see
Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me
I've been sleeping a thousand years, it seems
Got to open my eyes to everything
Without a thought, without a voice, without a soul
Don't let me die here
(There must be something more) bring me to life

(Wake me up) wake me up inside (I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside (save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark (wake me up)
Bid my blood to run (I can't wake up)
Before I come undone (save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become

Bring me to life
I've been living a lie
There's nothing inside
Bring me to life

I love the music video. It even has a moral: never go sleepwalking out of your apartment window with only a hot guitarist to save you, for he will drop you and leave you plummeting to your death, especially if you are both singing while this is going on.

To me, this song is about depression or feeling trapped in a dark place in your mind, the opening line "How can you see into my eyes like open doors?" Suggests that she has felt this way for a long time, but someone comes along who can really see that she is unhappy. Even though she is used to bottling it all up, and no one noticing. The rest of the song then seems to be about her trying to get a hold of herself again and 'bring herself to life' (out of the depression.) It's almost as though the one person noticing her sadness has sparked her determination to save herself and break free.
This is just my personal interpretation, amazing song.

When I first met my friend, we were both planning a way out if you catch my drift. We saved each other from ourselves, and this song is about that in my view.

It sounds like she is in a dark place, in deep depression, and has just met someone special. She wants to escape from this depression for both of them, but feels she can't do it on her own, that she needs his help to 'bring her to life' again. Epic music video by the way.

We all have our opnions and i like to dumb them down cause personally its easier for me so..yeah XP

How can you see into my eyes like open doors?(someone understands him/her) Leading you down into my core where I’ve become so numb((s)he finds his/her deepest emotions where as now (s)he doesnt have any anymore...as in numb) Without a soul my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold (his/her true emotion or self is somewhere else..deeper inside them) until you find it there and lead it back home (help him/her out in being their true selves again)

(Wake me up) (help them out) Wake me up inside(find their true potential) (I can’t wake up)(cant wake up without that special someone) Wake me up inside(find their true potential) (Save me)(save him/her from being consumed by something theyre not) call my name and save me from the dark(call them by the person (s)he really is from the dark..as in..Satan or the side thats not them) (Wake me up)(help them out) bid my blood to run(get their real selves) (I can’t wake up)(cant wake up without a special someone) before I come undone(before the fake him/her takes over) (Save me)(save him/her from being consumed by something theyre not) save me from the nothing I’ve become(save them from the someone theyre not)

now that I know what I’m without((s)he knows theyre without a special someone) you can't just leave me(literal) breathe into me and make me real(...maybe literal) bring me to life(life as in theyre real selves)

    (Look at top for chorus)

Bring me to life(as in their real selves) (I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside)(lie as in theyre not their true selves) Bring me to life(bring their real selves back)

Frozen inside without your touch(literal) Without your love, darling (literal) only you are the life among the dead(dead as in dead in spirit..true self)

all this time I can't believe I couldn't see(couldnt see his/her special one) kept in the dark but you were there in front of me(kept in Satans arms or the fake them the sadness and emotion and (s)he cant see theyre real them and their special one) I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems(metaphor) got to open my eyes to everything(literal) Without a thought, without a voice, without a soul(literal) don't let me die here(dont let them die in their emotion and sadness and thoughts and so on) there must be something more(more to than what meets the eye) bring me to life(life as in true self)

(look at the top for chorus)

(Bring me to life)(bring the real me back) I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside (living as someone else not the real me) (Bring me to life) (bring the real me back)

we all have our own opinions/interperation so yay!!! XP

to me its very much about finding god or being rescued by someone from some dark place (drug habit, bad relationship ect) its amazing that its a bit heavier than most songs and it becasme so popular with so many people. there are a few versions the one with the guy singing as well is the best one. great song

sorry if i'm wrong, guys. since nobody can REALLY know what the meaning of the song is unless you're the one who wrote it O,o .... yeah so none of us really know, we all have our opinions though. this is mine so... yeahh i hope you like it.

"How can you see into my eyes like open doors? Leading you down into my core Where I've become so numb" this is her saying how someone she knows can see the real her so easily, can see her deepest feelings so well, the person can see her very core, which is where ones deepest feelings are, the ones that control your life, except this is where she's become numb, like she can almost not feel anymore, like in depression she doesn't feel joy anymore, no exitement, nothing. only sadness.

"Without a soul My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold Until you find it there and lead it back home" this is her saying that she feels like she has no soul anymore cuz it seems that her spirit just fel asleep and leaves her lost with nothing but coldness. but this person seeems to find her soul where it is and brings it back to her so she can feel right again.

"Wake me up inside Wake me up inside Call my name and save me from the dark" she's telling the person to wake her up from this sleep that her spirit's in. to wake her up from the darkness and sadness that she's been in lately.

"Bid my blood to run Before I come undone Save me from the nothing I've become Bring me to life" she needs this person to save her and love her before she completely breaks down (some form of suicidal thingy) she needs the person to save her from what she's become. which is her being kinda oblivious to the world (numb) so all in all she wants the person to bring her to life.

"Now that I know what I'm without You can't just leave me" now she sees that what she needed to help her be happy is this person. now she knows what she's been living without so she's saying that this person can't just leave her alone now that she's happy finally.

"Breathe into me and make me real Bring me to life" she wants this person to kinda... how do i put this... breath into her as in show her how to be herself again, kind of breath the energy back into her and help her live again.

"Frozen inside without your touch Without your love - darling Only you are the life among the dead" this is her when she's not with the person, she goes back to being numb again, kinda frozen inside. like she's so cold, she stops living. she's frozen in time a little. and only this person is the happiness in all her sadness.

yeah... at least that's what i got out of it. so all in all she's feelingg depressed. she doesn't know what's come over her, but this person seems to be the only one who can make her happy again. i'm sure plenty of us can relate ;)

    My Interpretation

Just because Evanescence isn't a Christian band doesn't mean they can't write christian songs. After listening to Tourniquet I can definitely say this a Christian song.

I don't how to elaborate on this too much, but in a nutshell I believe she is asking for God's help.

"Call my name and save me from the dark" - She is asking for God to help her and lead her to his light.

"Walk in the light, as he is in the light" - 1 John 1:7

I only recently heard this song after a friend sent it to me. It's one of the best songs I've heard in a while; I plan to find many other songs by this artist.

This song is about someone feeling empty inside until a mysertious, sharming individual (ex in Daredevil) takes her by surprise, and desires to feel "alive" again. At least, that's what I get from it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
