The Siren Lyrics

A lady with a violin playing to the seals
Hearken to the sound of calling

who tied my hand to the wheel?
the zodiac turns over me
(come to me)
somewhere there my fate revealed i hear but how will i see?

i tied myself to the wheel
the winds talk to my sails not me
(come to me)
somewhere there my fate revealed
i hear but how will i see?

In this song Marco is Odysseyus and Tarja is the Siren. She sings the beginning part describing the siren and saying: "Hearken to the sound of calling".

Then Marco sings the rest and says stuff like "who tied my hand to the wheel?" and all while he's singing, Tarja is singing in this luring, seductive voice and saying "come to me". It's pretty cool.

I think this song is about sirens of the sea (mermaids) who tempt seafarers into the water. The man in the boat ties himself to the wheel so as not to be lured.

marco sings alot of the song and tarja seems to do her little cool opera thing all the way through. it rocks!

This song is based off of Homer's "The Odyssey"

The Sirens were a creature that was half human, half bird that sang so wonderful, that men would be drawn to their voices sending them overboard and to their death.

Odysseyus had his men put wax in their ears and he told them to tie himself to the wheel. He also told them to not untie him when they went oast the island.

When they passed the Island of the Sirens, Odysseyus repeatedly told his crew to untie him so he could view The Sirens...But the crew denied his requests...

I think this song was made only for one simple reason: Showing off! ^^

It's amazing, but I think there's not a deeper meaning in it. "We do it, because we can do it!" (And no one else does. ;) )
