Beautiful Lyrics

Wake up, medicate, again
Ever after is a friend
But you and I we get so high
We never quite came down
Ever after again

What could be more beautiful than you
and I falling from grace
All the things we'll never know
so beautiful they're slipping away

Light my past on fire
Spell it right in black and white
A coward's here for hire

What could be more beautiful than you
and I falling from grace
All the things we'll never know
so beautiful they're slipping away

It's beautiful (slipping away)

It's time to pack up and vacate
I'm so fed up of closing up
And running from myself

What could be more beautiful than you
and I falling from grace
All the things we'll never know
so beautiful they're slipping away

Wake up, medicate, again
'Cause ever after is my friend

This song is about a drug addiction.

"Light my past on fire Spell it right in black and white A coward's here for hire"

Sounds like Heroin.

Anyways I really like this song, it has a nice sound to it.

The song is not about heroin.

i just have to say.. watch the video.. it explains it all :)

Just because the video is about one thing, doesn't mean thats what the song is about.

Well, I have yet to see the video so no comparison to such. I do have to point out that this song has NOTHING to do with "drugs" , "drug abuse" and or "substance abuse". These mentioned are the obvious cliches. If you read throughly you will relaize that this is a man who has come to an understanding that he can not continue to hide from all that is good in life whether it be an attraction to a woman or perhaps some other higher level of spirituality. He is basically laying all things in the past aside and realesing a self catharsis. I have spoken with Ian Thornely at lengths about his song writing process and he has stated VERY CLEARLY that no typical cliches have been penned while doing this album.

This Song is about a relationship. he talks about how good it was and wonders if breaking up was the right choice. It was "Beautiful". Because they separated, he wonders why he let something so good slip away. He hurts, and feels that he was a coward from running away so soon, while thinking because they had some dissagreement(major) that it really was over. I know you all say its drugs or image, but the video is different, emphasizing the word "Beautiful" in the imagery. Its a painful love song.

I think this song is about, listening to people say that you can't like a certain person, but finally saying "screw you guys" and falling in love, but then it's not working and it's "slipping away"....I may be totally wrong but, thats what I thought when I first heard it...GREAT SONG!!!!!!!!

Truly amazing song, shame it took me almost 3 years after it was released to find. My first take on this song was him talking to himself, but after watching the video, it makes me wonder if he's addressing humanity in general.

The most "Beautiful" rock song ever written. This song is cursed for me. I spent a whole day crying to it after a big failure in life. Listening to it still gives me the shivers and returns all those feelings to me. Every rose has it's thorns I guess...
