to (sort of) briefly sum it up: a girl broke up with him and he's upset saying he misses the way she made him feel. he's having trouble getting over the break-up while she's not. he thinks that forever isnt long enough to get over her and he'll always have feelings for her. he dug his own grave by loving her, and fell in love with a girl who broke his heart-"i fell head over heals into my grave". even though he's heartbroken he's happy they met. he knows that they will never be together again. he hopes his broken heart will heal and one day she might realize that him loving her the best he could was enough and that it wasnt his fault, it was hers for throwing it all away.
so thats what i get from the song..its pretty much straightforward and you could interpret it anyway. i like my way i guess because its how i'm feeling right now with a guy who broke up with me. great song though! i saw them at SXSW and they were awesome!
oh and i really dont understand when he says "i miss the way you make me feel so cold and alone". does he mean thats the way he felt when they were still together, or thats the way he feels after the breakup?
i kind of think the "i miss the way you make me feel, so cold and alone" line means that their relationship was like not really abusive, but they both didnt give to the relationship. only he did. and like she made him feel like crap all the time, but he still loves her, and now that they are apart hes just feeling angry about it, not necessarily "cold and alone" like how he felt when they were in the relationship.
"forever isnt long enough to get over giving so much up to someone who will throw it all away" is kind of like, he gave his ALL in the relationship, and she just threw it away and its going to take forever to give over the fact that he just lost EVERYTHING. its kind of resentful statement too, like he gave all of himself and she just tossed it away, so he has every right to have a grudge against her.

Yeah, definitely about falling for that girl thats the worst for him. She feels like she was forced into the relationship for whatever reason. Then he gave her everything his heart, his soul, all his secrets, his whole life story, he gave her EVERYTHING. She lead him on, only to break his heart soon after. He's starting to realize that getting lost in her eyes was the worst move because he got played and he thought the feelings were mutual, totally wrong. She basically faked the relationship, he was giving it all he could to make it work, because he loved her. She didn't care at all and just fucked with his mind, acted like she did, which he found soon after wasn't true when she broke it off. Even though she hurt him like that, he will always love her, even though he wants to hate her, he can't. He hopes for the best, as in hoping one day she will feel the same way, and his best will be good enough for her..
Yeah. He was completely in love with her. But she would blow him off like it was nothing. So therfore he felt cold and alone. And even tho its hurting not being with her. It's the best thing for him.
