The Delaney Lyrics
On the bus the other day
You could tell right from the start
Theres magic in the...?
Can you play guitar boy
Can you play guitar
The truth is known the drums they roll
I loop the loop on the old banjo
Say no no no
Say yeah yeah yeah
I said maybe maybe maybe
I just dont care
No it doesnt rhyme with treatury
Nothing I never did
Measure out your honesty and
Things you keep in
Things they keep in
The truth is known the drums they roll
I loop the loop on the old banjo
Say no no no
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Oh maybe maybe maybe
I just dont care
Some people run from trouble
Some people meet it half way
Others are glad to pay
Their cab fare over
And superficialy you enjoy the company that you loathe to bear
Enjoy the company
What exactly do you mean
The truth be known the drums they roll
I loop the loop on the old banjo
Say no no no
Then said yeah yeah yeah
Oh maby maybe maybe
I just dont care
Say no no no
Yeah yeah yeah
Oh maby maybe maybe
I just dont care
You could tell right from the start
Theres magic in the...?
Can you play guitar boy
Can you play guitar
The truth is known the drums they roll
I loop the loop on the old banjo
Say yeah yeah yeah
I said maybe maybe maybe
I just dont care
Nothing I never did
Measure out your honesty and
Things you keep in
Things they keep in
The truth is known the drums they roll
I loop the loop on the old banjo
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Oh maybe maybe maybe
I just dont care
Some people meet it half way
Others are glad to pay
Their cab fare over
And superficialy you enjoy the company that you loathe to bear
Enjoy the company
What exactly do you mean
The truth be known the drums they roll
I loop the loop on the old banjo
Then said yeah yeah yeah
Oh maby maybe maybe
I just dont care
Yeah yeah yeah
Oh maby maybe maybe
I just dont care

i think some of its to do with Steve Bedlow a.k.a Scarborough Steve who was in the original Libertines years ago cos Pete and Carl met him on a bus. and i think i read somewhere about pete carl and steve living in 'Delaney Mansions' which wasnt as grand as the name. i could be wrong....
I LOVE this song.
you've got to love this song. in my opinion it's one of their best songs, and the fact that it was merely a b-side shows how much creative talent the libertines had in them
All I know is Wolfman helped Pete write this song...I have barely any idea what its about, bit a social commentary in there.
amazing song...and one of the best
its good because only true libs have heard it i find...
I really love the chorus.
Correction: "There's magic in all that he does" This song doesn't mean much to me. But it's still a brilliant song.
the Song's brilliant, it's about becoming a libertine 1st verse (& theme) is freedom through music 2nd is self knowledge (and of others) 3rd Escape from bad company/repression with a cheeky reference to doing a runner from a cab x x x BReakin the Law!
oh yeah, DOHERTY FOR THE LITERARY CANON!
this is an ace song! i love the line
The truth be known the drums they roll I loop the loop on the old banjo
its amazing :)
