Everything’s all black and white
Shades of grey in-between
Recollections of foreign sites
Caught inside madman’s dreams
I’d do anything to hear the voice graveling off in capitals
Not veer into the void, his eye sockets are impractical
The hallway always extended
Nothing quite seems to scale
Laws of physics here are bending
Hear the books write themselves
I’d do anything to hear the voice graveling off in capitals
Not veer into the void, his eye sockets are impractical
Mimicking is not creation
It’s a flawed artistic expression
Lungs deflate, know your station
And inside your cloak is sharpened perfection
I’d do anything to hear the voice graveling off in capitals
Not veer into the void, his eye sockets are impractical
A horse touches down beside your bed
Keep remembering things that haven’t happened yet
There’s no release even when you’re dead
Until he severs the mortal thread
Entire galaxies float in blue eyes
Where something mysteriously lies
I’d do anything hear the voice graveling off in capitals
Not accept the forces choice of permanent sabbatical

a gypsy told my fortune then i told her hers i said: "you'll die high in the mountains wrapped in silver furs you'll be looking for your lover in the midnight sun and you'll perish for your lover when the frost has begun" i have a way of seeing and it's nearly gone and nobody was listening so i wrote this song and when you know the chorus you can sing along you destroy the thing you love even though you know it's wrong

lovely! but what, exactly, is cactus brandy?

i think its about a father who loves one child more than the other. "Hello, my dearest father, It's your favourite son" the father favours one of them and it "destroys" the other one. or maybe he doesn't love one of his kids at all "Why love one thing and not the other?".

oh and Cactus Brandy is made up: "Like cactus brandy, I'm not even sure it exists, it just sounded like something a vampire would drink." - Torq. I'm not sure what that vampire reference had to do with anything, but i guess its just the imagery that he wanted to create.

i just always felt like this song was about a family, and thats all.

Actually, I think the vampire thing makes sense. "Fully dead already but forever young" Is a pretty good description of a vampire. Also the line before that, "So tired waiting for the end to come," could be the perspective of a vampire.. since he's/she's immortal and all. "And when I kiss I like to smother".. maybe a "vampire's kiss?" =D I'm not so sure if the 2nd verse is even related to the first, but somehow with the mention of vampires this song makes a little sense, lol.

lol it actually does! :) "wide eyed grinning in a darkened room" could kind of relate to a vampire. and vampires are also very romantic (they lure women in with their eyes, and have a 'kiss of death') so i could definitely see Stars writing a song about this. i have no idea how a vampire could relate to my family idea unless they are using the vampire metaphorically such as the father is sucking the life out of his son by loving the other one more... lol idk!

This is a great song, and I agree with the vampire idea, it fits. My only problem with the song is "And nobody was listening so I wrote this song/And when you know the chorus you can sing along."

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
