Today I Started Celebrating Again Lyrics
I am drinking again, oh ooh oh, oh ooh oh
I am dancing again, oh ooh oh, oh ooh oh
Life is a tribute to you
And so is dying
And celebrating in this way
To die is what I'm trying
I am grooving again, oh ooh oh, oh ooh oh
I am slugging again, oh ooh oh, oh ooh oh
People argue with me
But I have never been stronger
Nor held so strong a feeling
Inside of me longer
And all of us here
Raise our eyes and our spirits
Our hands and our voices
That your ears may hear it
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
I am celebrating again and I toast you
Who will never know what it is that I do
I am dancing again, oh ooh oh, oh ooh oh
And so is dying
And celebrating in this way
To die is what I'm trying
I am slugging again, oh ooh oh, oh ooh oh
But I have never been stronger
Nor held so strong a feeling
Inside of me longer
Raise our eyes and our spirits
Our hands and our voices
That your ears may hear it
Oh oh oh oh oh
Who will never know what it is that I do

It seems as if maybe he's developing a secret drinking problem, but tries to mask it with acting happy and nice. And the drinking is called celebrating, because maybe something happened that made him want to start drinking again.
Either these lyrics are very blunt, or there is symbolism I haven't quite found yet.
It sounds like he's developed a depression rather than a drinking problem.
I think some of his other songs seem to suggest he's almost happier when he's unhappy and alone, as strange as that sounds. Like he's used to being unhappy that it's an old sort of comfort. I think this song is about that too. "Life is a tribute to you / And so is dying / And celebrating in this way / To die is what I'm trying." So perfectly worded.
