Knockturne Lyrics

Fire burned and blew out flowers
Showing me its comely powers
Still and all it would be hours
Before I would get burned

Someone mawed and put my cock in
Corner-eyed I saw it lock in
Twisters rolled but no-one walked in
And only love was learned

Now I truly love you wholly
No-one else coud e'er have stole me
And the world so far below me
For ye and me it turned

one of the best love songs ever, I'm not going to bother with an explanation.. it would only come out sounding completely insignificant.

I dunno, I'm not sure I see it as a love song at all. The whole thing sounds so hollow and empty that it almost gives me the impression of the opposite- of a completely feelingless, dead relationship grounded on old cliches that nobody believes. "Someone mawed and put my cock in, corner-eyed I saw it lock in" is gloriously disgusting and evocative, it's almost like he's nothing but a machine.

'Still and all it would be hours, Before I would get burned' I don't think it's a dead relationship. I think it's about great sex an having a connection 'Twisters rolled but no-one walked in and only love was learned' but knowing that it's bound to end.

I see it as a very passionate love song, but a love that is hot and an afterthought and that leaves later... too soon; but the heat and the tension were worth it or on another plain. It was enough to turn the world. I wonder how he got burned, whether the relation ended so soon.. that this was it, the burn.
