I couldn't resist him
His eyes were like yours
His hair was exactly the shade of brown
He's just not as tall, but I couldn't tell
It was dark and I was lying down

You are everything, he means nothing to me
I can't even remember his name
Why're you so upset?
Baby, you weren't there and I was thinking of you when I came

What do you expect?
You left me here alone, I drank so much and needed to touch
Don't overreact, I pretended he was you
You wouldn't want me to be lonely

How can I put it so you understand?
I didn't let him hold my hand
But he looked like you I guess he looked like you
No he wasn't you
But you can still trust me, this ain't infidelity
It's not cheating you were on my mind

Yes he looked like you
But I heard love is blind

I don't think this is a parody at all. A lot of people truly think this way and separate love from sex.

I think it is sung with a bit of sarcasm. it's clear if you watch her performing it live. she doesn't REALLY care about her current boyfriend while she's trying to explain everything to him it's more that she's explaining the situation to herself trying to calm herself down. she's not a cheater,, it was just dark, you know :)

she slept with a boy that looked like her current boyfriend when she was drunk but she is trying to explain that she just had sex with him and sex is sex, she didn't love him or even care about him and she thought about her current boyfriend the whole time. She is trying to tell him that her heart is still his when her body was the other dudes so it doesn't really count. Her love for her boyfriend and the fact that the other boy looked like him blinded her.

Or, in other words, she was drunk and made a terrible mistake.

Just shows what alcohol can do to you.

i love how it ends with but i heard love was blind. i think it means that it doesn't matter what he looked like or whatever, love is love, and it it doesnt matter what they look like.

Came across this song only recently and wow, what a frickin' song!!

Sounds like a combination of Erykah Badu and Jill Scott...

Anyhow, didn't really know what she was singing until I read the lyrics now and I'm really impressed...

She takes such a unique perspective on cheating, or unique in terms of the way she wrote it... The last line "But I heard love is blind" is what it is, but if you think beyond the literal meaning, she's saying that love does not see, it feels... it's something inside of you that isn't physical... the sex she had with the other person was completely physical and heartless, because in her mind, she was thinking of the guy she loves...

Amy´s really a witty songwriter. This sounds like a parody to what many men have always said to their wives through ages. The strangest thing is that I get the feeling that if a man sang this, people would laugh; since it´s a woman who does, many people feel disgusted by the lyrics.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
