Thermodynamics are so hard to explain when related to humanity, lol. I dont know how bad Religion managed to do it.
Entropy. We use the word in a scientific sense, through biology and evolution. This song is about how foolish such a context is, because Entropy is a human issue, and it is always affecting mankind.

I always thought this song was talking about how no matter how hard you try in life or put study, there will always be the unknown factor that will eventually change your fate. I'm probably wrong but...]
Also the lyrics are wrong it goes "a stolid proposition" not solid...
he's looking at the fact that the whole universe goes from order to chaos as time elapses and even though this is not a very emotional song it describes the deep-inside feelings of a very sensitive person who looks at the world scientifically.
revolution is close. but the definition for entropy (one of them) is the process by which all things and all forces evolve through time towards uniformity.
that is contradictory to his idea of the breakdown from order into chaos. I do admit that in the context of the song it would imply that entropy is a decay, but technically its simply the loss of individuality in all things.
EDIT: upon closer research of the word's origin, it is commonly associated with the breakdown of some things, however the definition I gave is the current technical definition.
protogod is adstractly correct. to elaborate a bit. Entropy is a law of thermodynamics. basically, things happen because the result is an increase in entropy (measured in energy terms, watts/Joules). Hot and cold mix because it increases entropy. Entropy cannot be negative and is rarely zero.
When our human triflings are measured on an entropic scale with that of the earth, the moon, the sun, the solar system..., we are insignificant.
Entropy is a tough process and "thing" to understand. It is what everyone said. But what must be understood is that there is a bunch of scientific terminology that goes along with trying to understand Entropy. So, the question is, what does Entropy refer to in a non scientific, or less scientific, situation?
One of the labels attached to Entropy, which has now been changed (only recently has disorder been taken out of the definition), is that of chaos and disorder as well as the dispersal of energy. So, the understanding, though false, was that Entropy referred to the losing or decay of energy to a more disordered and chaotic form. Again, this has been recently changed because it caused to much confusion.
Now to conclude the lesson, I think the idea is that nothing is our problem (sarcastic) because entropy exists and causes energy and order to disperse and turn to disorder and chaos. "we're in a play of slow decay"
I am sorry that I have to write again, I forgot to say that do to the misunderstanding in science, the word received the definition (from http://www.thefreedictionary.com) of "Inevitable and steady deterioration of a system or society.".
The second law of thermodynamics says that in all processes the entropy of the universe is always increasing. That means that ever process is destined for eventual decomposition.
