Worms Of The Earth Lyrics
Worms of the Earth
Rise in numbers.
A silent night brings them upon us
Rising from the soil
To torment the living
Torment the living
Gentlemen, our faith is wounded
And, yes, we are wounded too.
They've come out from the swamp
But we, we stand on both legs
They will roll over and over and over again.
Another lonely pacifist
Lying in the sun.
There is no ground control.
Mayday.
Breathe not a word of this
Quiet, quiet confidence
The time has come to face this
We all must bear witness
So roll over and over and over again
Another lonely pacifist
Dying in the sun
I will not watch this...
I will not watch this all come down
Careful boy
Careful...
Absence of heart makes a boy, a man, a monster
Absence of heart makes a boy, a man, a monster
Absence of heart makes a boy, a man...
Absence of heart makes a boy, a man, a monster
Rise in numbers.
A silent night brings them upon us
Rising from the soil
To torment the living
Torment the living
And, yes, we are wounded too.
They've come out from the swamp
But we, we stand on both legs
They will roll over and over and over again.
Lying in the sun.
There is no ground control.
Mayday.
Quiet, quiet confidence
The time has come to face this
We all must bear witness
So roll over and over and over again
Dying in the sun
I will not watch this...
I will not watch this all come down
Careful...
Absence of heart makes a boy, a man, a monster
Absence of heart makes a boy, a man, a monster
Absence of heart makes a boy, a man...
Absence of heart makes a boy, a man, a monster

Coredump hit the nail on the head. Nate sings about standing up against the wicked people (worms) who try to make this world a terrible place and torment the people in it. It's depicted as a war scene in which Nate is giving his soldiers orders. "Gentlemen our faith is wounded, and yes we are wounded to" could be faith in their faith in humanity is wounded and they themselves (or their numbers) are effected by it. "They've come out from the swamp but we, we stand on both legs" meaning they are coming for us but we can triumph over them. "They will roll over and over again" is how worms move, meaning they will keep coming. "Another lonely pacifist lying in the sun" meaning they have killed the peace. "There is no ground control, MAYDAY" means no one is trying to contain it and that we're all going down the drain. The next part is about taking action against them swiftly and quietly "breath not a word of this...we all must bear witness". "I will not watch this all come down" meaning I will not let them drag us down with them and destroy everything we've stood for. Then he warns them "Careful boy...absence of heart makes a boy, a man, a monster" meaning if you don't hang on to those morals and the nobility inside you, you become just like them...monsters
I totally agree, I'd like to correct but one thing.

"Another lonely pacifist lying in the sun" "Another lonely pacifist Dying in the sun" It means that wanting peace is noble, but still, saying we don't have to fight the worms is a lie. Those who say it, die alone in the sea of worms, so we have to unite and fight the worms.

no comments, goddamn it's a good song nonetheless.
I love this song. It's especially great when they open with it. Oh and I belive they are also screaming May Day, after "there is no ground control" I think..
Great Song tho ;)
Fuckin crazy song!!!!!! Sounds too much like Glassjaw though, but fuckin crazy!!!!
ok im a finch fan but boy do i hate this song. the only decent part is at the end. thank god R2K said it wasnt gonna be on the new album. i mean i love finch though so please dont think im just bashing them
This song is really good live. Finch played it first and everyone went crazy in the pit.
I read the lyrics to this song before I actually heard it, and I was amazed by them. The lyrics gave me goosebumps just reading them. But then I heard the song. And I have to say that even though Finch is thebestbandonearth, I was dissapointed in the song. It sounded nothing like them. It almost sounded manufactured.
whats it about though?
It's actually on the soundtrack for 'Underworld'.

This can symbolise how the Lycans (werewolves) were made to be slaves for the Vampires, and that they fought against it and became independant and broke out of the Vampires' grasp, especially with all the pain and suffering the Lycans were put through. (you have to watch the first Underworld, then the third)
