Everybody Wants a Chance to Feel All Alone

one of my favorite songs.The lyrics are so ironic, and you can tell that is really about how you feel when you are dumped about the other person. But having dumped girls you know you have never felst quite this happy about it. or it could be about cheating and you would be this cool about it, but the first meaning is more like it.

obviously, this song is about killing, literally or metaphorically, his love. "darlin' i think its time that i let you go, i dont feel any guilt as i touch your throat" he says he shouldn't have the girl anymore and he chokes her... "all for love you suffocate" continues the choking reference. "but i watch as you choke on your tears" is a really powerful line to me. she is choking from him suffocating her and also she is crying because he is doing so. normally, i dont think, one would cry while they were being choked, i would assume that one would be screaming and panicking. her crying shows that she really loved him and cared. "suddenly i feel so strong, i dont hear a single sound" he feels powerful for killing her, and since she is dead, all he hears is silence. "looking up towards the stars, i can see for very far" i never really could understand what those words meant but its very powerful. this song is romantic yet very eery, but thats why i love it

Wow, I never thought of it like that but now I've read your post it kind of makes sense. It's either how you say it is or just a very strong metaphor for ending a relationship.

good explanation, i love this song, itunes says i just listened to it today 21 one times...right now i'm obsessed, plus i'm trying to finish tabbing it out for guitar. I think this part, "looking up towards the stars, i can see for very far", is showing a sign of relief going back to "i feel so strong", it shows that he now is free. He can see so very far where he can be and not be tied down by this relationship. Great song, top 5 on my list.

I dont believe the song is about "literally" killing his girl. I think its more of a metaphore for "killing" the relationship. For one thing, he uses kind words when describing her (such as "likes me best", "Darling" ). Also, the line "All for love, you suffocate" has nothing to do with her "choking", but rather her suffocating Rivers by telling him "what to drink, not to smoke" etc. etc.... and she is doing this because she loves him so much. And finally, choking on your tears.... This is a dead on 100% acurate description of someone crying uncontrollably. Especially when you consider he killed the relationship with someone who was as in love with him as this song describes.

for such dark lyrics, i think it has a happy-ish sound...

anyways...it's awesome...
