What's with these homies dissin' my girl?
Why do they gotta front?
What did we ever do to these guys
That made them so violent?

(Ooh ooh) But you know I'm yours
(Ooh ooh) And I know you're mine
(Ooh ooh) And that's for all of time

Ooh-wee-ooh, I look just like Buddy Holly
Oh oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore
I don't care what they say about us anyway
I don't care 'bout that

Don't you ever fear, I'm always near
I know that you need help
Your tongue is twisted, your eyes are slit
You need a guardian

(Ooh ooh) And you know I'm yours
(Ooh ooh) And I know you're mine
(Ooh ooh) And that's for all of time

Ooh-wee-ooh, I look just like Buddy Holly
Oh oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore
I don't care what they say about us anyway
I don't care 'bout that
I don't care 'bout that

Bang bang knockin' on the door
Another bang bang get down on the floor
Oh no, what do we do?
Don't look now but I lost my shoe
I can't run and I can't kick
Whatsa matter babe, are you feelin' sick?
Whatsa matter, whatsa matter, whatsa matter you?
Whatsa matter, babe, are you feelin' blue?

Oh

And that's for all of time
And that's for all of time

Ooh-wee-ooh, I look just like Buddy Holly
Oh oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore
I don't care what they say about us anyway
I don't care 'bout that
I don't care 'bout that
I don't care 'bout that
I don't care 'bout that

    My Interpretation

Actually, I never saw this song as 'Happy-Go-Lucky' at all. I always thought of it as having something a little darker and sadder to it. Especially the 'Bang bang' part, I imagine some sort of horrible crime happening to them...and he's trying to help this girl get away. That's just my interpretation.

This song rocks, I still play it loud in my car. I think this couple is in high school and they're socially rejected by their peers, because of their attire, or appearance maybe they are retarded and always getting beat up, because he dose say "Bang! Bang a knock on the door another big bang and your down on the floor." Key there "Another" so we know that this not the first time they get assaulted that's what I think.

I don't really think this song has any true secret meaning. I think it's about a relationship (platonic or romantic) between a woman and a man, and the man just continues to defend it (and her) no matter what other people say. It's just a fun song. And as for "don't look now, but I lost my shoe", I don't think that's has a meaning, it's just a crazy line.

    My Interpretation

I believe this song could have a much darker/sadder meaning to it. It could very possibly be about a guy who dies protecting his girlfriend/wife from some sort of crime (possibly a hate crime, based off of the "I don't care what they say about us anyway" indicating a form of prejudice). This can be seen in the "Big Bang" scene, where the girl loses her shoe as an accident while they are being assaulted, and cannot run or kick. The man protects his girl until she is able to get away, dying in the process.

The hate crime situation is further explained in the very first lines: "What with these homies, dissin' my girl? / What did we ever do to these guys, that made them so violent?" They clearly didn't do anything, however the public discourages their relationship because of the girl in a violent way. Maybe the girl has a disability. Maybe the girl is mentally challenged. In the 70s (Mary Tyler Moore / Buddy Holly era), prejudice and hate crimes against autistic/disabled people would have been extreme.

In short: Girl is autistic, everybody hates the guy for marrying her, they attack their household because of it, girl gets away, guy dies.

i think it's more like not caring about what anyone else thinks of them..just to themselves together.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
