Everything She Wants Lyrics

Somebody told me
That for everything she wants
Is everything she sees
I guess I must have loved you
Because I said you were the perfect girl for me, baby
And now I'm six months older
And everything you are and everything you see
Is out of reach not good enough
I don't know what the hell you want from me

Somebody tell me
Why I work so hard for you
(To give you money)

Some people work for a living
Some people work fun
Girl I just work for you
They told me marriage was a give and take
Well you show me you can take you've got some givin' to do
And now you tell me that your having my baby
I'll tell you that I'm happy if you want me to
But one step further and my back will break
If my best isn't good enough
And how can it be good enough for two

I can't work any harder than I do

Somebody tell me
Why I work so hard for you
(To give you money)

Why do I do the things I do
Can you tell my why? Yea
My god, I don't even think that I love you

Somebody tell me
Why I work so hard for you
(To give you money)

Somebody tell me
Why I work so hard for you
(To give you money)

How could you settle
For a boy like me
When all I can see
Is the end of the week
All the things we sign
And the things we buy
Ain't gonna keep us together
It's just a matter of time

My situation
Never changes
Walking in and out of that door
Like a stranger
For the wages
I give you all
You say you want more

And all I can see
Is the end of the week
All the things we sign
And the things we buy
Ain't gonna keep us together
Girl it's just a matter of time

Yes it is unfortunate that some ladies are shallow and materialistic. :| They make the ones of us who are neither look bad. Kinda like how jerks ruin it for the nice guys-wait there's no such thing as a nice guy. But we good girls do exist. ;)

In this area I would calculate that men are more often the ones taking the high road. Proof? Look at the personal ads writ by the women in C/List. Nearly ALL of them list financial concerns as the main prerequisite for being with them.

Think HARD about this fact for a while. Think long and hard about what this preponderance of cold hearted, money grubbing bbitches does for the families they inevitably form.

Divorce, materialism and broken homes (with subsequent and predictable cases of children joining gangs, breaking laws and entering career crime/prison etc)

THAT is the legacy...

Do you and your girlfriend have matching skirts too? You know the definition of crazy right? Also I might add, that you should think long and hard about being 60 years old and still only have your lady as just a "girlfriend". ;) I'm sorry love has sucked for you. But you're not alone in that. Keep on keepin' on. :)

George drew from his experience and ornamented it a bit. Of course he wasn't married, but he did "date" women. There was one in particular that did try to take advantage of him for fame and money, and when he finally told her to beat it, she sold George to out the press with lies about a relationship. It's hard to tell though, this song could easily be inspired by that situation, whereas "Credit Card Baby" illustrates it directly.

George Michael was gay, so he can't be writing this song from experience. Or can he? Maybe he was writing about a man he was in a relationship with, and threw in the "and you tell me that you're having my baby" line to throw listeners off the scent. Or, perhaps he was writing about his relationship with his mother, but still, that doesn't quite fit either.

He did "date" women in the 80s so he does have some experience with hetero relationships. There was one that tried to ride his coattails of fame and fortune and when he told to beat it, she went running to the tabloids and sold George out.

George came out as gay in 1998, so he is obviously singing about a gold digging woman here. If he had dated a spear counterpart of that, the song would be titled "Everything He Wants".

He gives her everything she wants to get into her pants. She falls in love with him. When she tells him she's pregnant, he tells her that he doesn't love her and he dumps her. He uses the excuse that she asks for too many things. But all he had to do was to say No to her requests. She didn't know she was asking for too much until he dumped her. He tries to make it seem like it's her fault. But this situation, being dumped when she tells him she's pregnant, is one of the many types of nightmare situations some men do to women.

I can't say I am a huge Wham! fan, but I do think they are/were fairly underrated despite their chart success. They go down as a typical 80's campy band but they really were good at what they did- well-crafted and catchy pop songs. This song was always intriguing to me and I thought it was particularily well-written. I don't, however, think there is any deep hidden meaning here. George Michael is simply singing about a realtionship gone bad.

This is an 80s classic! Chessy it may be, but its great to dance to and does have some good lyrics.

Its clearly about a materialistic relationship, where the guy works his ass off and the girl just spends all and is never satisfie - a gold-digger.

Some women are never satisfied.....

Classic song of being trapped in a relationship with a gold digger.

He realizes what's going on at the end when he says "My god, I don't even think that I love you." but perhaps by then it's too late.
