You didn't stop to look 'round
You were gone before I hit the ground
You went on your way
And no prayer was said
How you left me for dead

You didn't cover my face
I didn't merit a communal grave
You set me aside
And no tears were shed
How you left me for dead

And I say, I won't stop, no, 'til Hell is your home
There's nowhere to hide, no, nowhere
You'll feel the cold of my gun at your head
How you left me for dead

And it's not like you stayed by my side
Or you called me a priest
You searched through my mouth
To check for gold teeth
You were pawning my shoes as I bled
You left me for, left me for, left me for dead

You kept on takin' your time
Until it was certain I couldn't survive
Judas remained, you turned and fled
How you left me for dead

And it didn't trouble your mind
It did not disturb you to see me decline
You turned out my lights, you put me to bed
How you left me for dead

And I say, I won't rest my head until Hell is your home
You think that you're safe, but oh no
You'll feel the cold of my gun hit your head
How you left me for dead

And you didn't stay close to me, didn't stay by my side
I was choking in blood as the laugh filled your eyes
You were a bum for each word that you said
'Cause you left me for, left me for, left me for dead

But I don't wanna search no more
There's nowhere to hide
So, why don't you come quietly, my love
I wanted to say
To say that you sure proved the death of me
'Cause now I've reached a dead end
And I can't go back
But if I'm going down, you'll come with me

'Cause you didn't stop to look 'round
You were gone before I hit the ground
You went on your way and no prayer was said
How you left me for dead

'Cause you didn't cover my face
I didn't merit a communal grave
You set me aside and no tears were shed
How you left me for dead

Oh, and we'll move shoulder to shore the light
Whispered in grey by the side of the light
I know each word that was said
How you left me for dead

Oh, assemble the people inside of the light
Let us go wrong on the side of the light
I know each word that was said
How you left me for dead, oh

"I don’t want to search no more there's nowhere to hide so why don’t you come quietly, my love? I wanted to say that you sure proved the death of me cause now I’ve reached a dead-end and I can’t go back but if I’m going down, you’ll come with me,"

to me, this is about someone who always swore they'd be understanding and there for him who, in his time of need, abandoned him at the slightest problem. but in the part quoted above, it's obvious he doesn't really hate the person for it. he's just feeling bitter and defeated...and figures if things are plowing into a brick wall, he wants her coming along for the ride.

    I love this song.

I was a little hasty so I listen to it some more and came up with this for the last part:

(Vocalizing) [Oh!!! I'm on the side, the side of the light whispering words at the side of light] I know each word that was said Oh you left me for dead

[Ah!! assemble them people at side of the light ah, assemble at side of the light] I know each word that was said Oh [how] you left me for dead (Vocalizing)

i honestly just think that this song this about a man's revenge against someone he trusted but then betrayed him, very 1950's gangster style plot.

Can anyone make out what he says after the last 'You left me for dead?' All I can catch is

"I'm almost gone and...? ...... I know each word that was said, Oh you left me for dead, Oh, ....? Now that's all gone and...? I know each word that was said, Oh, you left me for dead."

The last word of the "...?" parts sound a bit like 'light,' but can't tell for sure.

I notice the lyrics were a bit off in places and I took a stab at the end of the song...

Lyrics to Rob Dougan - Left Me For Dead :

You didn't stop to look 'round You were gone before I hit the ground You went on your way And no prayer was said [How] you left me for dead

You didn't cover my face I didn't merit a communal grave You set me aside And no tears were shed [How] you left me for dead

And I say, I won't stop, no, 'til Hell is your home There's no where to hide, no, nowhere You'll feel the cold of my gun at your head [How] you left me for dead

It's not like you stayed at my side Or you called me a priest You searched through my mouth To check for gold teeth You were pawning my shoes as I bled You left me for, left me for, left me for dead

You kept takin' your time Until you were certain I couldn't survive Judas remained, you turned and fled [How] you left me for dead

And you didn't stay close to me, didn't stay by my side I was choking in blood as [the laugh = delight] filled your eyes You were a [bum = bullet?] for each word that you said 'Cause you left me for, left me for dead

But I don't want to search no more There's nowhere to hide So, why don't you come quitely, my love I wanted to say, To say that you sure proved the death of me 'Cause now I've reached a dead end And I can't go back But if I'm going down you'll come with me

'Cause you didn't stop to look 'round You were gone before I hit the ground You went on your way and no prayer was said [How] you left me for dead 'Cause you didn't cover my face I didn't merit a communal grave You set me aside and no tears were shed [How] you left for me dead

(Vocalizing) Oh!!! on my the shore shine of, night whisper words at the sight of light I know each word that was said Oh you left me for dead

Ah assemble them people at [side of the life OR sight of the light] assemble at [side of the life OR sight of the light] I know each word that was said Oh you left me for dead (Vocalizing)

A very vengeful song as Jento113 said however I'd have to add that it must be a lover as in a girlfriend, wife. The lyrics imply it as followed "So, why don't you come quitely, MY LOVE"

She had no remorse for what she did symbolically killing him&not even showing normal respect by covering his face or crying after doing so. In fact, delight filled her eyes as he was "choking in blood".

This a "I'm so pissed off I want to kill you" - love song in disguise.

yes i think it's definitely someone who is more than just a friend because he says "my love". it's a creepy love song about someone he feels has wronged him and now he's obsessed with revenge. scary. but fun.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
