Eight Flew Over, One Was Destroyed Lyrics
Halfway through flight there-to
Where will you go?
Falling down on the ground
Where will you go now?
Do you remember what made you fall?
And does it matter to you at all?
You wanna go, you wanna see
What lies could set you free
You wanna see, right?
You’ll know this night
Halfway through flight there-to
Where will you go?
It’s a nice way, I think
To wake up with you
You cannot see them when it is light
This is the reason we go at night
In the darkest flight of my career
I am made blue all through
On my dark descent I persevere
I am thinking of you
Halfway through flight there-to
Where will you go?
Falling down on the ground
Where will you go now?
A nice way, I think
To wake up with you
It's a nice way
I’m separated from you
A nice way, I think
To wake up with you
A nice way
I’m separated from you
Where will you go?
Falling down on the ground
Where will you go now?
And does it matter to you at all?
You wanna go, you wanna see
What lies could set you free
You wanna see, right?
You’ll know this night
Where will you go?
It’s a nice way, I think
To wake up with you
This is the reason we go at night
I am made blue all through
On my dark descent I persevere
I am thinking of you
Where will you go?
Falling down on the ground
Where will you go now?
To wake up with you
It's a nice way
I’m separated from you
To wake up with you
A nice way
I’m separated from you

my fav mew's song, the music and lyrics are dreamy... i <3 mew
"It's a nice day, I think To wake up with you" Those lyrics make me shiver. I thought it was 'A nice WAY...' instead though? I see it as trying to help someone understand what to do next. The person they're trying to help is trying to let go of something or someone, and trying to move on. "A nice way, I'm separated from you" to me, is saying, "Right, OK, I've done all I can now, it's time for me to leave you to make your choice."
this is just about having someone there to pick you up when you fall
i think literally this is about a plane crash, but it also has alot of emotional content. maybe from a pilot's perspective. -he is flying back across the world to his love, and yet his plane goes down. "what made you fall" could be, why did he crash, or why did he fall in love. the whole crash thing could be a metaphor for falling in love, and then crashing and burning when you are rejected.
"a nice way" makes me think he's waking up in heaven, with someone he's lost. or that he's coming to after the crash, and is just glad to be alive.
The feeling when someone you loved have died, and all that's left is the spiral of depression. Until all you have left is your desire to be with this person, that you might commit suicide. "I am thinking of you" "To wake up with you". the common thinking about the life after death, heaven or such, that one day you might be able to see them again. To wake up with you.
But we don't know if this is true or nought, "You wanna go, you wanna see"
He's finding out.
"What lies could set you free"
Escaping from life for this 'lie' or what you want to call it.
From some reason, to me, a lot of mew songs seem to deal with war, and when I first heard this, I got the impression that he was a pilot in an air force, and was able to sustain himself throughout the battles by thinking of his love back home. In that sense, it would kind of fit lyrically with the songs from Glass-Handed Kites.
this song is about wondering what happened to someone who was right there flying with you. and they disappear as if shot down. but not, they left on their own, "Do you remember what made you fall? And does it matter to you at all? You wanna go, you wanna see What lies could set you free"
this other person's willingness to separate causes our pilot to go down.
...I've been thinking that the "nice way to wake up with you" is to be shot down, and perhaps killed. The pilot blacks out and imagines himself waking up next to the one he misses.
"Halfway through flight there-to Where will you go? Falling down on the ground Where will you go now?"
A pilot is in the air on his way to his destination and runs into some problems half way through the flight.
"Do you remember what made you fall? And does it matter to you at all?
This part sounds like a conversation between pilot and co-pilot asking what has happened and why they're crashing. One of them is pretending to themself that they're going to survive and the other remarks they'll see what lies will make them feel better tonight (bare in mind most planes don't just drop out the sky, they would have a long cruise down to the ground probably)
"You wanna go, you wanna see What lies could set you free You wanna see, right? You'll know this night"
This next bit makes me think of the idea of the afterlife and a longing on one of the people's parts to wake up in the afterlife.. in a kind of continuation with their partner. Maybe like waking up from a bad dream and realising it wasn't real? That kind of thing...
"It's a nice day, i think To wake up with you"
This part is kind of puzzling. I don't know enough about planes to suggest a problem that might only affect a pilot in the dark..
"You cannot see them when it is light This is the reason we go at night"
Then this part is kind of self-explanatory... as for the blue part, this made me think of being professional and calm despite what's going on? Pilots tend to cope well under extreme pressure.:
"In the darkest flight of my career I am made blue all through"
Despite all this, they keep trying to save the plane and themselves, all the while thinking of their loved ones...
"On my dark descend I persevere I am thinking of you"
The final part maybe is as they're about to crash and they're hoping against hope that things are going to change and go back to normal/afterlife idea again.. all the while thinking about their loved ones...
"Where will you go now? It's a nice way, i think To wake up with you A nice way I'm separated from you"
I agree with Fanatism... it's about someone's plan to commit suicide in order to be with a loved one in the afterlife. Apart from the "to wake up with you" lyric, I think the most telling section is this:
In the darkest flight of my career I am made blue all through On my dark descend I persevere I am thinking of you
I'm actually more curious about the title... eight what?
ndrw: "I'm actually more curious about the title... eight what?"

Angels? Because, you know the Mew Angel logo, right? Well, I heard that the official name for it is "One Was Destroyed." Which is why they draw it tilted downwards sometimes.
