The Color That Your Eyes Changed With The Color Of Your Hair Lyrics

seal this envelope with a heart that's been
beaten black
beaten blue
beaten all over again
don't leave out a single thing
send it off with wings
an anecdote to ease the pain that you feel
every time that you smile at the mirror

i won't need anymore memories
for the next 50 years i could still write you love songs
i wont need anymore photographs
to remember the color of the clothes you wore that night

hopefully this won't sound as bad
as i'm sure that it is
all results will be lifeless and lead
to an excuse
to never try again, to never try at all
staring up at the ground
because oh how you we tried
and oh how you lied
but how could that be true

i won't need anymore memories
for the next 50 years i could still write you love songs
i won't need anymore photographs
to remember the color that your eyes changed with the color of your hair
my heart is gone
my heart is gray

I've never listened to a band that wrote such cripplingy depressing songs, but I've also never found another band that could help me emotionally gut myself the way that Carissa's Wierd does. The first time I heard this song, I probably wasn't paying attention to it, but the first time I LISTENED to some the words I heard the words "for the next 50 years I could still write you love songs" and I stopped everything that I was doing and sat down and started the song over. I must have listened to it half a dozen times before I finally tried to resume whatever activity I was already engaged in. This song has haunted me every day since the first time I heard it, and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes when I sit down and listen to it. It's heartbreakingly beautiful and brilliant in every way that I could hope for as a fan and can only hope to achieve as a growing songwriter. If you've listened to this song (which apparently only a few of us have) and didn't feel any kind of emotional response, you need to check your pulse, because this song is enough to make even the dead hang on every word.

Definitely my favourite CW song too. The live version that I have is exceptionally well delivered and is probably better than the album version. There's a rawness in the live guitar that's as grave as the lyrics, and his voice is almost ghostly in it's intimacy. I'm sure there are very few people who can't relate to this song.

So heartbreaking, so beautiful.

i have only left a handful of comments on this site. but i love this song . obviously its about a failed relationship. i love the line about "50 years" and also when he says "all results will be lifeless and lead to an excuse to never try again, to never try at all'

i believe he is just saying what we all feel when relationships end . how can we try this again with anyone else . lest i end up a shipwreck like the last relationship

very beautiful song. i only heard it recently . and though how could i have lived my life without hearing this
