All the Way Down: Prologue/Chapter 1 Lyrics

Taking part's what counts, but you were not around,
never understand my goals for you
Looking back, seems that everyone in my life, I will be waiting for you
I will be waiting for you until the evidence conveys another side

You’ll never understand my hopes for you
Sleeveless in miniature, monster overture, never be complete unless you know
Looking back, seems that everyone in my life will be waiting for me

I will be waiting for you until the evidence conveys another side
Have you found your way home? Have you found your way? I feel wondrous, controlling me seems like a good idea
I'll do my best to uphold you, but I know that in the night

Ever wonder if it's forever, the moment passes, but I feel you now
I feel wondrous and holy and I know it's all right
I'll do my best to uphold you and I know that in the night

Ever wonder if it's forever, the moment passes,
but I feel you now, all the way down

So I'll try not to breathe as I hold my head still,
the light bends on my face, there’d be tears if I cried
And I'll try not to think what the happy things were
I just think of the stuff that just made me shit scared
And I'll just close my eyes and I’ll see everyone
that I’m leaving behind for the dawn of the sun
And I'll try not to feel, yes I'll try not to feel,
and I'll try not to feel on the way down

I always got the feeling that this song was about finding God. The prologue is about being pushed towards Him and Chapter 1 is about taking the leap of faith. And the second chapter seems along the same lines.

This is just how I look at it though.

I think it's about finding God, the good things like being released from "the things that made me shit scared" but also the bad things like knowing that "in the night [I'll fail at upholding you]" and losing the happy things. Obviously the brackets is my interpretation, what I think he's implying. It sounds like he's sacrificing his happyness in order to be saved, so to people who's only desire is to be happy, this song will appear to be anti-christian (I'm assuming it's that God!), but I think he'd rather have God than happyness, so this is like a worship song, saying "God, I'm trying to live for you, but this is really hard cos my life without you was better in some ways, so I'll try and concentrate on how you've made it better". I only have vertigo of bliss, so I can't speak for part 2

i love this song so much, it reminds me of falling in love with my girlfriend, and then when i though ti was gonna have to leave to go to uni the last bit

So I'll try not to breathe as I hold my head still, the light bends on my face, there’d be tears if I cried And I'll try not to think what the happy things were I just think of the stuff that just made me shit scared And I'll just close my eyes and I’ll see everyone that I’m leaving behind for the dawn of the sun And I'll try not to feel, yes I'll try not to feel, and I'll try not to feel on the way down

made me really sad and upset, reduced me to tears

The line I'll try not breathe as I hold my head still is an adaption of a lyric from an R.E.M song ironically entitled "try not to breathe"

The R.E.M. song is about suicide, and I think this one is too. It's possibly written at different points in the characters mind, as it's hard to tie the beginning in with the end as a continuous series of events.

At first, the character seems to be pondering mortality, the existence of God and eternal life. I think the line "Looking back, seems that everyone in my life will be waiting for me," is saying that this person has lost a lot of loved ones and seems to believe that when they die there will be a reunion. The line,...

I think it's about dying... but I don't really see the religious side of the song. =P

My Opinion

and in my opinion, this song is not about dying or God, it's about love and the fact that every moment will end and nothing lasts forever. at least that is my interpretation and i like it :)

i really, really want to get "i feel wondrous and holy" tattooed on me, like on my wrist or something :') those five words really stand out for me.
