Times Are Bad Lyrics

Well, times are bad
And all the time you're feeling sad
And people are laughing
Telling you to go away
And your feet are trudgin'
You're always acting like a curmudgeon
Well i know i know
That it's hard hard hard

Well it's hard to walk around
Feeling like a circus clown
Grab a big baton
And twirl it like a magic wand
'Cause your cards are dealt
And everything is deeply felt
Well i know i know
That it's hard hard hard

And the people that you love
Are attacking you from above
And everyone that you trust
Is just selling you a bucket of lies
Well just believe
That it's all gonna be ok
Well i know i know
That it's hard hard hard

Cover art for Times Are Bad lyrics by Adam Green

This is such an adorable song I love how when Adam sings, his voice is really low and deep, yet when he talks he sounds like he's 15 or something. He's so grand.

i have heard every song adam green has released solo and w/ the moldy peaches. i think he is truly an incredibly song writer - but of all the songs of ive heard this one is my favorite. its been the #1 most played song on my itunes for years running and i somehow think it will remain there for years to come. its obviously less ironic and complex than his other songs but its a masterpiece of concision, and when im really feeling bad it has always cheered me up. the progression of the lyrics is flawless in fact if you examine them closely you will see how much is packed in there - im not going to cornilly spell it out for you just look carefully and you'll see.

perhaps he will never return to these sort of terse, honest songs, i realize they are less "cool" but who knows - even if he does not - this song will always exist.
