Counting Stars Lyrics
Hey,
I wanna crawl out of my skin
Apologize for all my sins
All the things I should have said to you
Hey,
I can't make it go away
Over and over in my brain again
All the things I should have said to you
[Chorus]
Counting stars wishing I was okay
Crashing down was my biggest mistake
I never ever meant to hurt you
I only did what I had to
Counting stars again
Hey,
I'll take this day by day by day
Under the covers I'm okay I guess
Life's too short and I feel small
[Chorus]
Counting stars again
Counting stars again
Counting stars again
Counting stars again
Counting stars again
I wanna crawl out of my skin
Apologize for all my sins
All the things I should have said to you
I can't make it go away
Over and over in my brain again
All the things I should have said to you
Counting stars wishing I was okay
Crashing down was my biggest mistake
I never ever meant to hurt you
I only did what I had to
Counting stars again
I'll take this day by day by day
Under the covers I'm okay I guess
Life's too short and I feel small
Counting stars again
Counting stars again
Counting stars again
Counting stars again

Best song on the album, hands down. It's beautiful. And intelligent.
A relationship that's ending and the singer wishes he go back and apologize and make everything better. He's afraid of the world; "Under the covers I'm okay, I guess," and all he can do is count the stars to take his mind off her.
At least, that's what I get on the three listens I've had.
Had they put the acustic version of memory on this album then I would vote for that as the best track, however, since they didnt, this IS the best track on the album....
Reminds me of when I used to get in arguments with my g/f and Id sit around my backyard at nite just starring at the sky
this song is awesome, i use to like sugarcult a lot..but now they're really annoying me...this song is good though. reminds me of silverchair..
This song makes me so sad. I really like the Crashing Down reference... "Crashing down was my biggest mistake" Crashing Down as in the song from Start Static... yep.
this song is about events in your life that you look back on and wish you would have known better, or done something different. Counting Stars symbolizes the vast emptiness, and sense of being alone you get, when you feel like everything is out of your control. i think we all hide under our covers sometimes, to keep everyone around us from really seeing how we feel, and how scared we are sometimes.
This song is amazing...It makes me cry just by listening to it..."Under the covers, I'm ok I guess..." It sounds like he is faking something...Putting on a mask to show people that you might look fine on the outside...but on the inside you are dying...and need help...
it's amazing how much the lyrics to a song can make you feel so emotional...i immediately latched on to this song when i heard it...it's so beautiful
This is my favorite Sugarcult song, hands down. It sounds like he is reflecting on his life, thinking "could've, would've, should've." He wants to turn back time and take back things, say/do things, change his past in hopes that perhaps his present life could turn out differently to what it played out as.
this is one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard... its so powerful lyrically, yet the music and the melody is really soothing... ive cried sometimes when i listen to this song.. and i can really relate to it...
"Under the covers, I'm ok, I guess..."
"Counting stars wishing I was okay, crashing down was my biggest mistake"
"I can't make it go away Over and over in my brain again All the things I should have said to you"
......its like all the memories flowing back into you, and you wish you could do something to go back and change what you did, or what you said, so things would be better, but you just cant, and thats why youre dying, or crying, or just plain not okay..
"Counting stars wishing I was okay Crashing down was my biggest mistake"
crashing down was origialy on sugarcults actual debut album eleven. however for some reason sugarcult claim this album never exsisted and i thin refering to a song on that album as a mistake references the reason why they dont talk about eleven or wrap me up in plastic.
