Next Time Lyrics
You can always get it right next time, next time
You can always get it right next time, next time
You can count on me
To mess it up
You can count on me
To let you down again
And in time you'll see
That I'm your only friend
You can always get it right next time, next time
You can always get it right next time, next time
Comfort in community
Obliterated
Given opportunity I hesitated
Even my humility's
Humilitated
You can always get it right next time, next time
You can always get it right next time, next time
When you die they make a list
Of every love you never kissed
Of each regret and each mistake
Every choice you failed to make
You can always get it right next time, next time
You can always get it right next time, next time
It's a shame I have to wait
Until the ending
Everytihng I've yet to break
Is surely bending
Every vow I take
Is just pretending
That this mess I make
Is worth defending
You can always get it right next time, next time
You can always get it right next time, next time
You can always get it right next time, next time
To mess it up
You can count on me
To let you down again
And in time you'll see
That I'm your only friend
You can always get it right next time, next time
Obliterated
Given opportunity I hesitated
Even my humility's
Humilitated
You can always get it right next time, next time
Of every love you never kissed
Of each regret and each mistake
Every choice you failed to make
You can always get it right next time, next time
Until the ending
Everytihng I've yet to break
Is surely bending
Every vow I take
Is just pretending
That this mess I make
Is worth defending
You can always get it right next time, next time

All the mistakes you make with me (well, him), is just experience for the next guy.
Yea, like trial and error. Maybe a friend that screw stuff up for him/her friend.
This song is about feeling like nothing you do is right, and either being told "you can always get it right next time" or thinking it. Just generally feeling like you made an ass out of yourself and screwed up AGAIN.
i think its about cheating in a relationship.. she did, he didnt, but got offered.. but theres always a next time.
I agree with Brenlo, and so it applies to me...
This song is about taking risks. It's about taking chances. It's about even if the person you are with isnt the person you'll be with forever, even if he or she isnt Mister or Miss Right, it'll be okay because 'you can always get it right next time.'
I dunno - in Wikipedia, it says that this song along with "Shopping" and "Second Best" are centered around the recent troubles in the East. So I've thought about it as the protagonist being George Bush (trial and error), and his disregard for the general opposition of his decisions.
I love the word choices... Just clever and :-)
I believe that this song presents a protagonist whose life has gone off the rails, and is considering the advantages of suicide as a "reset button". He wants to see what the answers were, to see the list of what he could have done better, perhaps to get it right "next time" (especially if you consider their song "It's All Been Done", which tracks the protagonist's attempts to woo the object of his affection through multiple reincarnations).
