umm this song goes with hello dearest... its going with stripes on fire... what exactly is stripes on fire??
i beleive that stripes on fire are the lies hes seeing come out of his lovers mouth... they blind him like sunshine and then later in the song he references im troubled or maybe im blind... i jsut think its how his lover lies to him and he escapes it by drinking and forgetting and keeps on trying to lvoe her...

I'd have to agree with you about "stripes on fire" being a metaphor for lies from his lover's mouth. I also feel that "these hands are tired" might be referring to how tired he is of covering his mouth instead of letting what he truly needs to say come out. Truly brilliant!

i'm suprised no one has talked about this song... its actually one of my favorites... loss of a friend, lonliness.. the meaning is kinda self-evident
"Because what I'm feeling inside I'm troubled or maybe I'm blind but I just can't see how this is helping me ...." it makes it very personal. anyway, the chimes/piano runs or whatever they are after the lines "Because I'm alone I need someone to be my friend But I can't take, anyone who can't stay until the end" ... they just, somehow, hit me. I don't know exactly what's special about this song, but its pretty cool.
