Because Of You

I'm Kinda thinking it's about a girl who had an abortion and is suffering regret from it: "Now that you did this You ask for forgiveness Doctor could you be my priest?" She had the abortion and is asking for forgiveness. Her abortion doctor is her priest cause she would be ashamed to go to her priest about it.

Basically he is afraid she is going to take her own life because of the abortion she had and he's not gonna let it happen. Though he is definitely not happy with the fact that she did it either.

I've noticed a lot of people believe this song is about a drug addict, I'm not sure thou. I'm pretty sure he's singing to an ex-who suffers from severe depression & uses threats of suicide + self-harm to get/ keep his attention. However this time it seems it wasn't just a threat but a legitimate suicide attempt. It is very possible that person he's singing to/about is also an addict. Since most people with depression issues, self medicate which usually makes everything a whole lot worse in the end!

actually I'm 99% sure this is about a person who self-injures...this time s/he has taken some drugs as well. S/He's been in and out of the mental health thing and knows how to work the system. Anyway...that's what I think?

So obvious. Ther person is an addict and hates themselves and wants to stop. Looks in the mirror and can see what’s become of them so clearly and can’t make the image of the ugly user go away. They want to be clean for the singer but they don’t want to think about what they’ve become. So they shoot up and lay down and now they’re bleeding from the injection (or twenty tried if they blown their veins and then there’s blood everywhere). But they relax and finally hit the vein and can lay back and watch as all the pain and self hate goes away. They aren’t dying they are nodding off after getting a taste and the world is suddenly better and ok. Then they call the singer and he comes cos they say they want to stop and they are sorry and they ask to take them to the dr so they can go on Methadone or bup instead. Their dr is basically their priest keeping them from the hell that is heroin addiction. They swear they aren’t on anything now- like they always swear. But singer can tell-but look what they’ve taken they laugh as they lie through their teeth. When an addict mouth is moving they are lying. To themselves as well. They keep swearing to stop so he comes after swearing to himself not again. He tries to help but then they relapse again. He can tell by the look in their eyes they are high again and again swears he won’t come next time they call cos he can’t keep helping and be in their life and watch as they kill themselves by what they do. He won’t stand around and watch them die. So he leaves. Then they see the destroyed skeleton in the mirror and can’t be much clearer they are fucked. They don’t want to call. They don’t want to live. So they shoot up again and lay back while still bleeding probably with the needle still in their arm and watch as the pain goes away. Now at the end I kind of think they might have odes this time and died. But maybe not maybe just a continuous cycle. Until that is the end eventually. Their only hope is to let the dr save their life and believe in them like a priest to save their life with Methadone or bup cos they are too fucked to just stop. But they keep being high whenever he comes over to take them and then can’t be bothered cos they aren’t in pain that moment. This is basically so many people’s lives. He’s lucky he didn’t become her or join her.

This song is about a drug addict who lost everything for nothing and it is because of them. They blame everything and everyone but themselves. And the person singing is saying im not gonna see u do this to urself.

If it's about a drug addict, why is the line, "Now that your bleeding" in there? I'm not saying your wrong because i don't really know what the song is about, i'm just curious

i think the song is about a drug addict who is trying to commit suicide and the person is saying that he cant be there every time the drug addict needs help... that would explain the "now that your bleeding"

That's sounds better and more like it. I originally though it was about suicide, but then again i'm not good at interpreting songs. So yeah, that sounds right. ;)

Usually I'm pretty good at translating songs (about my only strong point) but this one confuses the hell out of me. At one point he's talking about how he won't stand around and watch her die, but then he's saying "now that you're bleeding you stare at the ceiling watch as it all fades away...from what you do, because of you". The last seven words seem to say it's her fault. I talked to my brother who listens to this song all of the time and he said that the line goes "You laugh as you lie through your teeth" which seems to make more sense. Then there's the part that goes, "Now that you did this you ask for forgiveness, doctor could you be my priest, you say you're mistaken but look what you've taken you laugh as you lie through your teeth". Maybe means that now that she's dying she wants to be forgiven? She has a secret, but she's not telling. "You laugh as you lie through your teeth". Maybe she made it look like she was attacked and it was really her attempting suicide? Or maybe I'm just looking too deep into this? I don't know...this is the first song I haven't been able to give an adequate meaning for.
