Now I'm behind glass
I'll talk to you
The telephone lines blind
You have defaced my face
I bet you laughed at me
You bright young things
And now I need no-one
I miss you, so

Please push no more
Please push no more

Now it's all over for sure
I'll walk back home
We must all come down
We all grow old
We are close, we are hurt
So that was love
And love she kills me
It needs to, so

Please push no more
Please push no more

Please push no more
Please push no more

    Song Meaning

I think this song is not about Garys Fans at all, I think its a message to his critics in the music business, the first verse is about the present, the time he wrote the song. the first line

Now I'm behind glass I'll talk to you (meaning him in his studio, he can talk in his recordings......)

The telephone lines blind You have defaced my face I bet you laughed at me (no one can see what he really thinks and feels, but the press and other bands criticize him)

You bright young things And now I need no-one I miss you, so (i think he is telling his critics and other bands he needs no one, but he still misses them even though he's saying it. Like we all say things we dont mean sometimes)

The second verse is I believe is Gary looking into the future,

Now it's all over for sure I'll walk back home We must all come down (Meaning what happens after the success ends and he's older)

We all grow old We are close, we are hurt (Meaning all the other bands, all grown older, meaning they are all the same and maybe all hurt that its over)

So that was love And love she kills me It needs to, so (meaning he knew it was all love deep down and that other bands really admired him and he admired them and that the love at the time killed him but it needed to ...to drive him and others forward to strive for further sucess.)

for what its worth thats what I think anyway. Its a great song and one I play a lot.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
