Rainmaker Lyrics
When I was wandering in the desert
And was searching for the truth
I heard a choir of angels calling out my name
I had the feeling that my life would never be the same again
I turned my face towards the barren sun
And I know of the pain that you feel the same as me
And I dream of the rain as it falls upon the leaves
And the cracks in our lives like the cracks upon the ground
They are sealed and are now washed away
[Chorus:]
You tell me we can start the rain
You tell me that we all can change
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears away
You tell me we can start the rain
You tell me that we all can change
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears.....
And I know of the pain that you feel the same as me
And I dream of the rain as it falls upon the leaves
And the cracks in the ground like the cracks are in our lives
They are sealed and now far away
[Repeat chorus, 3rd verse]
And was searching for the truth
I heard a choir of angels calling out my name
I had the feeling that my life would never be the same again
I turned my face towards the barren sun
And I dream of the rain as it falls upon the leaves
And the cracks in our lives like the cracks upon the ground
They are sealed and are now washed away
You tell me we can start the rain
You tell me that we all can change
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears away
You tell me we can start the rain
You tell me that we all can change
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears.....
And I dream of the rain as it falls upon the leaves
And the cracks in the ground like the cracks are in our lives
They are sealed and now far away

I really like this IM' song, its awesome... unlike Journeyman7 i think that this song is not about politicians, but about a relationship... tough its more likely to be on politics since IM didn't or almost didn't wrote about love, but their anti-politic songs are abundant, but it depends on you and your perspective :)
(I've combined some of the opinions to form this one, thank you all!)
Anyway, the desert is a desolated place, and for my opinion symbolize the soul of the two friends\lovers, they had a fight or they are experiencing problems in their relationship, and now they both suffer...
"And I know of the pain that you feel the same as me And I dream of the rain as it falls upon the leaves And the cracks in our lives like the cracks upon the ground They are sealed and are now washed away "
if the desert symbolize his soul - the crack symbolize their problems, and the rain is the solution. he waits for the rain to start, for the solution to come to wash the "cracks" away. after the rain fall the flowers will bloom and the desert won't be desolated no more...
"You tell me we can start the rain You tell me that we all can change You tell me we can find something to wash the tears away "
his lover\friend told him (or tells, depends on perspective) that we all can change, that we all can start the rain, thus - bring solution to the problems, to wash the tears away
This song is so beautiful.. It's about two friends who feel the same about something, and about one of them being hurt by something, and both of them are praying for his wounds to heal and the whole thing about the desert is just a metaphor
It means that the rain can heal so many wounds
The "rain" is a metaphor though, they don't actually mean the physical rain heals all the wounds
The "rain" is a metaphor though, they don't actually mean the physical rain heals all the wounds
the first verse reminds me of ischmael in the desert, the story of how the muslim faith begun. thats just my view. popcorn adler has the right idea though for the whole song rock on
excelent song, great album
One of the best song on dance of death
this song rock. tell us how we have the power in ourselves to wash away bad things taht have happened to us. You tell us we can start the rain. means u tell us we have the power to wash away the tears ourselves
ooh... elim likes this song too. coolies! I think metal advocat got it right. I don't thin the deset is employed as a metaphor in this song particularly when you consider that landscapes of nothingness and desolation feature heavily on DoD
i think this song is good but i prefer the earlier stuff based on history and books and films. maiden r going downhill. still amazing tho, and good live.
this song reminds my baby of me. :)
