This song (to me) is about the redemption of mankind. The fall of man is about mans fall from grace and in the bible (can't remember where) it says about if your eye causes you to sin (I guess by looking at something bad), cut it out, cause its better to get to heaven with one eye than to keep both eyes and go to hell, thats where I think the "cut out your tongue your eyes your lies they do decieve you" part is from.
A few of theses lyrics are incorrect here:
The second verse is actually "My beliefs are not antiquated, we are the whole, Silence them all with not just words, let resolution be our voice"
The verse begining "We are the remnants...", is actually:
"we are the remnants we the remnants will silence them all we are the faithful we the faithful will silence them all Silence them all"
I think this song is about how the fall of man may have been 'bad' but mankind has eventually become stronger for it- "When darkness falls we are reborn", and that now we, as people can "Stand firm in our solidarity" without that b*****d Big Brother God looking over our shoulder.

Ok, this song actually has to do, well, the title, when Howard fell down the stairs. For those of you who dont know who Howard is, he is the replacement singer for Jesse. Howard is a rather large black man from Blood Has Been Shed. They call him Darkness. Ive heard the story a million times from those who know him and are related. (They are local's)
And to SOAD_Fan_Uk....the new KillSwitch is amazing. Blood Has Been Shed, Howards other band, amazing as well. You like System of a Down...and your gonna talk shit? Eat it.

about the song. it's good. not great. i don't really like the chorus, but the 'we are the remnants' part really shines.

at a recent show, when the crowd started yelling "play when darkness falls" howie walked to the front of the stage and goes "ok" and then falls, u gotta love black guys that no how to have fun
