Bullet Theory Lyrics
Who shot the bullet
That killed the air tonight
Without a thought, without a reason
Take a gun called hate
Up against your heart
And pull the trigger
It's over, it's only over
It's only over when we say
The smoke and mirrors
The lies that wind your tongue
Is this oppression what we wanted or what we needed?
As we function on impatience
And our patience is wearing thin
And live a lie that will destroy us all
Back and to the left come on
And shoot motherfucker
You like this baby?
You want to dance a little longer?
That killed the air tonight
Without a thought, without a reason
Take a gun called hate
Up against your heart
And pull the trigger
It's only over when we say
The lies that wind your tongue
Is this oppression what we wanted or what we needed?
As we function on impatience
And our patience is wearing thin
And live a lie that will destroy us all
And shoot motherfucker
You want to dance a little longer?

this songs about j.f.kennedy ("who shot the bullet")
how the hell do you know that?
No I don't think it's all about JFK at all. I think it may be more to do with politics in general. I'm not totally sure with all of the ins and outs of the song. I think they're basically trying to say people are getting tired of politicians lies and deceit ("The smoke and mirrors, The lies that wind your tongue"). And the next 4 lines in that verse are saying that people are getting angry and impatient with their governments, as they destroy all the good things in society. And then they use the JFK assassination as a way of signalling peoples anger ("shoot motherfucker"), and also a sign of possible things to come in the future if governments continue with the way they are.
Well that's how I percieve it to be
beni_ffaf, thats what i meant, but i was too lazy to write it down
i agree with beni ffaf...but i def think jfk reference is in there because lee harvey oswald supposedly killed jfk, and if im not mistaken from 10th grade that his rifle went back and to the left plus smoke and mirrors symbolizes the cover up and what not. fuck it, funeral for a friend are rad.
It's definitely about politics to some degree, and could be about JFK, but only 4 people know, and probably ever will...
whats the part 'its over, its only over, its only over when we say" when WE say????
the 'back and to the left' reference is from one of ffaf influences, texas from the reason, its one of theirs songs
why would it be about jfk? the band is from wales...thorougly british so why would it write about jfk that happened 40 years ago? isnt it a little big headed to presume a british band wud just write about an american incident. as for the song, its great. the song's lyrics are so vague though that altho people can say its about politics....it cud be about any type of system or government or authority or a pyramid of people/kids in school or work with the people at the bottom feelin so left out that theyr not as "cool" as those that bully them and look down on them
The song clearly has referance to jfk the lyrics are "Back and to the left, ect" in the movie jfk i think it was that line "back an to the left" was to describe the "bullet theory" of the assassination duh!!
