That's Why They Call It a Union Lyrics

There's a black cloud over this house
That's been around for 3 years now
There's a thunderstorm inside
And it won't go away

That's why they call it a union
That's why they call it a union
So both of you please forgive me tonight
That's why they call it a union
So please forgive me tonight

I remember him turning around
He said, "Son, I'll be leaving now,
I can't be the person that you want me to be
And then she said, "So things are finally ending now,
I knew you'd be walking out,
You can't be the person that you want me to be."

3 years of all the arguments
3 years of all this silence
Has been enough to last me a lifetime
3 years of all the arguments
3 years of all this pain

That's why they call it a union
That's why they call it a union
So both of you please forgive me tonight
That's why they call it a union
So please forgive me tonight

I can't look at the pictures anymore
Because i know how it's run its course
And i know how the story ends
I know it ends

There's a black cloud over this house
That's been around for 3 years now
There's a thunderstorm inside,
And another fight tonight

There's a black cloud over this house
That's been around for 3 years now
There's a thunderstorm tonight
And it won't go away, no it won't go away

no comments :S. this song is really good and shows the strugle that christ has with some1 and he just cant be the person that this person wans him to be. at least thats what i think its about, correct me if im wrong.

He, she, and son, plus it being a punk rock song, probably and more realistically means it's just about him having bad parents that have been fighting for around three years and the son is or was caught in the middle of it and probably used as an arguing technique in some cases. Such as,"Son I'll be leaving now; I can't be the person that you want me to be," and then the mother twisting his words around to use against him suggests that the mother may have said something similar about the father not being the dad his son...

And then I read the comments below. I feel very stupid. Like really stupid. Sorry, man.

Christ? Either that was a typo or you like Less Than Jake a little too much... I thought this was about some guy looking back on his childhood when his parents divorced and he starts to feel like it was his own fault that they broke up.

hahahaha, soz that was a typo i meant 'chris' being lead singer of ltj, lol sorry about that

ps: thanx for the correction on the meaning i was lost with this one and the parents divorcing thing makes sence

Well that was just a guess on my behalf. Maybe his parents are happy together and will be happy forever and when they die they will be buried in the same mausoleum or something.

Made sense to me though.

yeah definitely about parents getting divorced. marriage is called a union.

Precisely.... and the really scary thing is that I can't remember at all writing that last message...

But if this song was about divorce, it would sort of tie in with Escape From The A-Bomb House from the same album.

THis song is awesome, and it's one of the best on the Tony Hawk Soundtrack.

the songs about families and how they fight until the dad leave and the mums left alone with the child and thats why they call it a union says it all

Cover art for That's Why They Call It a Union lyrics by Less Than Jake

To me it sounds like hes leaving the family because they always argue and hes asking them too forgive him for leaving.

Definitely about parents.. The dad can't take care of the family the way he needs to... He'd rather leave than cause his son more problems and force him to be in the house with all the fighting
