Evil In A Closet

i agree with SDMFBLS that its probably a close friend that was a girl. I think when they met, she was already with somebody, thats why he wishes he was the 1st she had met. Savvy pretty much nails all the rest.

The confusing part about this song is what he means by "evil in a closet", and the only thing i could get is, that he's supposed to be her close friend, yet he's hoping (maybe even trying) to break her up with her bf(husband?) so that he can have her. So even though he appears to be her friend on the outside, he's secretly "evil"

I think this song is about something that has hurt the writer very much.

It's about someone very beautiful and perfect he loved and who once was with him but is now gone.

"I once read a poem Held my breath But that moment's gone "

This was the first time he felt life hurting or that there's something wrong in his life

"First time I felt life somewhat hurts"

And now he feels lost and all alone, he needs options and hope so he can go on.

"Need an option and some hope"

The first three lines indicate how perfect live was with this person, perhaps a women. It shows how much they fit each other.

"We were one in words You finished my sentences (The answer to my puzzle)"

Life without this person is nothing to him, he's not able to see tomorrow and is afraid to get lost. Perhabs he's about to give up hope (-> needs hope).

"I can never attract tomorrow It pushes me aside I sink in waters deep "

The presence of this person has always helped him to go on, with him/her by his side he lifed a rather good live. Although I don't no what the second line where he talks about the depths. I understand "depths", but what about those secrets?

In the last two lines, the writer expresses that he wishes to turn something around or that he wants to keep something from happening. He wants to meet this person before someone or something else does so, but he knows that this is impossible it can only happen in another lifetime. This makes the thing that happened seeming very definite.

"Maybe in another lifetime I could be the first you meet "

In the last lines, the writer dircetly adresses someone. This could either be the person he misses so much or he could also try to adress the listener. However, he wants to be a shining light for someone, which means that he wants to help, direct and support someone and perhaps also wants to be admired and loved, though this person he adresses yells at him. But he is not abel to be this "light that shines" because his ground is shakeing, he seems to lose grip in live. This could be a consequence from the great pain he was forced to suffer by losing someone. So he perhaps wants to be a shining light for the listener but can't be because he's hurt so badly.

"Yell at me, i want to be your light that shines But my ground's shaking and I might fall "

In the last line the writer shows us again how much he wishes to do something, but I can't get behind what he exactly means by beeing the evil in a closet.

"I wish that I could say... I wish I could be your evil in a closet"

Great song anyway. I think it's very emotional and I can really relate to the wirters feelings. The only thing to do now is to figure out what happened to this person he misses... :o)

first, incredible song. ok, so i think this song is about the despair of wanting to be with a friend ("one in words ..finished my sentences...") that is with someone else ("..the first you meet."), the pain & frustration of not knowing how to handle it (".need an option and some hope.."). -I coud be very wrong but again it's an incredible song regardless

where did 'the answer to my puzzle' come from? I don't hear that anywhere :o)

I am suprised this song isn't on the radio and stuff, non metal-ish pop fans could listen to this easily?

"the answer to my puzzle" is actually in the cd booklet but i don't hear it either. To me, this song is about breaking up with someone or having an outs with someone. It's a very well put together song filled with emotions. I love it!

He wishes this person would somehow secretly let him back into their life, he realizes they should not/cannot and views himself as 'evil.' We've all heard the expression 'in the closet' before, its just a dire secret. I assume it is a woman he is referring to; she can keep him hidden away metaphorically speaking, and even this small amount of contact is beyond his expectation. He just labels himself as 'evil.'

This refers directly back to the mention that he could only have contact with her in another lifetime.

It's about some1 that hurt his friernd's feelings and he wants to make-up for it but he can't.

I think it's about a guy who kind of fell in love with a girl but she was already in love with someone else. But I feel like she's tempted to be with him because that's what the evil in the closet is, the temptation for her to leave her lover. The thing that pointed this out to me was in that he says that in another life maybe he'd be the first to meet her. Maybe she would have chosen him if she had met him first.

Defenitely a great song, but, to me, the last line: "I wish that I could say... I wish I could be your evil in a closet" says, to me, that there's something in him that wishes that she would cheat with him, on her lover, so that they could share some of what they once shared, but he's unsure about even attempting to be with her behind her lover's back. (Maybe because her current lover is his friend, or a relative?) That's my take on it anyhow..
