got to agree with dreadnaught.. it is a cool bridge in the song. but i also love it how the song starts and the drum that comes bashing in en a after few sec a little extra hits on some sort of thing does the trick :D
for the meaning i think its about that he always will be what he is.. and stay and believe in his own things he does not want beautifull heaven but will make the best out of it how where he lives or goes

I think part of this song, especially the beginning, has to do with something that you believe in, but nobody else believes in or believes you about it. So he is choosing the suffering of going against the majority and following what he believes is right, even if he gets nothing but pain from it.
It's about doing what you think is morally right, and accepting/facing any consequences of that act. Not changing based on what other people or society/media thinks is right. Do what you think is right.
I think this song is about staying with your beliefs no matter how much hatred and pain you suffer, even willing to accept death or anything just to stay with them and live by them.
Near the end it sounds like the singer is adding in that he does NOT want people to try to understand him regardless of what happens because they will never be able to understand.
Overall, this one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Its strangely comforting, yet invigorating...
I love this song...definitely one that sticks out on the album, for nothing if not it's ambient feel. I think it's about corruption and abuse of power in the high levels of the world, either government or society, and he's been persecuted against as a result.

i agree when i first heard this song it reminded me of being prosecuted for something you dont believe was wrong and going to jail...

I think this song is about the singer's pain, and how he needs it. He will always belong to the shadow, and that's the way he wants it, because that's when he is himself.

I think this song is about the whole process of life and how he feels locked up in his own thoughts and realizes that he cant relate to anything at all.
i'll add that bridge is about the writer knows he is right, and when he's all gone (maybe it takes all the people who believe something to die before that belief goes away), when the world finally changes that he will be noted..and in the rest he knows he is right and it is society that is wrong and he realizes what its become
