Hives Hives Lyrics
Put that gun to my temple
Put that gun to my heart
Make me walk off the plank, chi-cha
All always, all always into the dark
A I D S H I V
I cannot wait to die
Can’t you tell
Can’t you tell
Can’t you tell
Never finish my degree, cha-chi
Never play with the Pogues
Throw my head out the window and
Cement my feet into the dark
A I D S H I V
I cannot wait to die
Can’t you tell
Can’t you tell
Can’t you tell
Put that gun to my heart
Make me walk off the plank, chi-cha
All always, all always into the dark
I cannot wait to die
Can’t you tell
Can’t you tell
Can’t you tell
Never play with the Pogues
Throw my head out the window and
Cement my feet into the dark
I cannot wait to die
Can’t you tell
Can’t you tell
Can’t you tell

this song, from what i understand, is about a patient at an AIDS clinic in california which jamie once worked at. jamie befriended the patient and wrote this song about him. as far as i know jamie does not have AIDS himself. if i remember correctly this info is second-hand from jamie (that is, i heard it from a friend of jamie)
i've seen the same info on the message board i think. this song is beautiful, as are all xiu xiu songs. even though the lyrics are so simple there's so much emotion there.
this song is amazing
The original version of this song (by Jamie's band IBOPA) is...amusing. The music is energetic and the chorus is shouted out in a way completely different to the way this song works.
This song is special to me because someone I loved is now dying of AIDS. I love the way he sings, it elicits a whole range of emotion.
About a young person dying of aids. The person will never get a chance to enjoy the pleasures of life because aids is killing them at suck a young age. The person just wants to die and get it over with.
this song is so over the top, and it is meant to be. i wish it didn't have the a-i-d-s-h-i-v part, really.
I like the IBOPA version tons more, if only because this one has some sloppy arrangement.
The A-I-D-S part is so catchy actually, I catch myself singing it, which I'd imagine is rather intentional. This song is really great.
This is so amazing. I cried the first time I heard it.
