Ruthless Lyrics
This is the only lonely picture
Waiting on my floor
Littering my shore
This is the last true burning letter
Given to a girl
Written by a boy
Living in a world created to destroy
But if I built you a city,
Would you let me?
Would you tear it down?
But there you go for the last time
I finally know now what I should have known then
That I could still be ruthless if you let me
But there you go and I'm not done
You're waving goodbye, well at least you're having fun
The rising tide will not let you forget me
forget me
This is your ghost that kneels before me
Razors on her tongue, a body full of oxygen
It wont be the last time she'll ignore me
The thinning of my skin, without the strength to go
The winter's setting in, to cover you in snow
But if I built you a city,
Would you let me?
Would you tear it down?
But there you go for the last time
I finally know now what I should have known then
That I could still be ruthless if you let me
But there you go and I'm not done
You're waving goodbye, well at least you're having fun
The rising tide will not let you forget me
Forget me
Forget me
Forget me, yeah
I'll raise towers and climb them
Rivers and walk them
Oceans to drown in
You won't make a sound in
But there you go for the last time
I finally know now what I should have known then
That I could still be ruthless if you'll let me
But there you go and I'm not done
You're waving goodbye, well at least you're having fun
The rising tide will not let you forget me
...forget me
Waiting on my floor
Littering my shore

"This is the only lonely picture Waiting on my floor Littering my shore"
He is at home remembering her
"This is the last true burning letter Given to a girl Written by a boy Living in a world created to destroy"
She is at home forgetting him
"But if I built you a city, Would you let me? Would you tear it down?"
He is willing to do anything for her, but would like to know if it will be in vain or not, and he wants to know if she hates him so much that she would let him do it first before she lets him know it was pointless
"But there you go for the last time I finally know now what I should have known then That I could still be ruthless if you let me"
I think it’s saying that he was too nice while in the relationship, and now he knows that he needed to be more callous. I think the rest of the song is him progressively getting more and more angry then finally becoming 'ruthless'
"Forget me Forget me Forget me, yeah
I'll raise towers and climb them Rivers and walk them Oceans to drown in You won't make a sound in"
Once he realized that her intentions are to forget him he gets angry and says that he will go out of his way to find her and make her feel as horrible as he does.
on the Live at the Ventura Theatre DVD, before Andrew played this song he said \"it\'s all about stabbing someone in the back and how they\'re willing to stab you back twice as hard.\"
No way "North" was a let-down. Half my favorite songs are on this album. Nothing they do could ever be a disappointment. But I admit, for most of their songs, I don't fully appreciate it til the second or third time through.
My favorite song... Andrew said it's about their former manager kind of screwing them over... but to me, its about being hurt by a girl and what you'll do to get them back...
I am so glad that songmeanings is finally back up. Anyway this song is amazing like all other soco songs. I was pissed to find out that "North" was voted the biggest let down cd of 2003, because that is so much crap. I will admit when i first heard it, it was not what i was expecting or maybe even hoping for, but then i listened to it again and its one of the best cd's i've ever heard and i know so many people who will agree with me. It's so amazing and different. I love it.
wow, that 'biggest letdown' thing is super-surprising. i love it just as much as lttw. i introduced my best friend to soco and she said that she can't have the same passion for north, because lttw is just so amazing, but i think they're equally amazing. ruthless just fits any mood. great song.
they are equally amazing (the cds)! but anyway when i first heard this song i thought it was about a not-so-great relationship where the couple fought most of the time and the girl thought it was just amusing in a way, but the guy gets pissed off about it and is going to get back at her for hurting him as much as she has with her stupid fighting. but now that i read it it makes more sense about the former manager. this song is really not as pleasant as you would first think- and i mean pleasant as in sweet or a day-in-the-park... the lyrics are vengeful and the like.. i love this song though. when they played it at uci bren everyone went nuts =)
The name of the song is Ruthless. Clearly, the "I could still be ruthless if you'd let me" line must have some sort of importance, but I can't figure out what!
This song was so totally written about me. When i listen to this song all i can think about is how this song fits my life so perfect. my friends all tell me that im ruthless and i know that i am.. but whatev. at least i can say that soco has one of the best songs ever abt my life!
no this song is so totally about me.....
quitting is not always a bad idea.
