Shadow Lyrics
Your body’s warm
But you are not
You give a little
Not a lot
You coup your love
Until we kiss
You’re all I want
But not like this
I’m watching you disappear
But you, you were never here
It’s only your shadow
Never yourself
It’s only your shadow
Nobody else
It’s only your shadow
Filling the room
Arriving too late
And leaving too soon
And leaving too soon
Your body gives
But then holds back
The sun is bright
The sky is black
Can only be another sign
I cannot keep what isn’t mine
You left and it lingers on
But you, you were almost gone
It’s only your shadow
Never yourself
It’s only your shadow
Nobody else
It’s only your shadow
Filling the room
Arriving too late
And leaving too soon
And leaving too soon
I cannot tell if you mean what you say
You say it so loud, but you sound far away
Maybe I had just a glimpse of your soul
Or was that your shadow I saw on the wall
I’m watching you disappear
But you, you were never here
It’s only your shadow
Never yourself
It’s only your shadow
Nobody else
It’s only your shadow
Filling the room
Arriving too late
No, no, no
It’s only your shadow
It’s only your shadow
Nobody else
It’s only your shadow
Arriving too late
And leaving too soon
It’s only your shadow
But you are not
You give a little
Not a lot
You coup your love
Until we kiss
You’re all I want
But not like this
I’m watching you disappear
But you, you were never here
Never yourself
It’s only your shadow

It’s only your shadow

I like this song...I don't really fully understand what its about though....is it about a guy who isn't giving her enough? i dont know
This song is about a girl who hooks up with the same guy over and over and has him but at the same time she doesn't. He is so close to her and she says that she wants him so badly but not like the way she has him because to him, she will be nothing more than just a fuck buddy. So, in the end all she has of him is his shadow, always kind of there but not in a solid way like she wants him - as a boyfriend, not a hook-up.
dont u jus hate it when that happens haha
Aww this song is sad. =( It
s about a girl who really wants to be with a guy, but he basically just uses her for the physical things of a relationship and he wont give her more. So he`s not really there the way she wants him to be. Been there. = /It's about a girl who's in love with this guy. He wants her, but only on the shallow level of hooking up. She wants him to be more, to be there, to love her, but he won't. He doesn't really care about her. She wants so badly for him to be more, but she can't keep him. She'll never really have him.
This song is about her having a boyfriend, an actual relationship boyfriend, and shes created this image of him, this person that she wants him to be and she eventually realizes shes only been with this shadow of him that she created and she didn't take the time to understand who he really was. Just a tragic case of one person wanting another one to be their perfect dream lover and end up hurt and dissappointed.
I agree with 'envysinnocence'. It's about someone falling in love with a created image of their significant other/unrequited love.
"The sun is bright The sky is black Can only be another sign I cannot keep what isn't mine"
I think what those first two lines mean is that things don't seem right because they aren't. Literally, anyone who saw a dark sky with a bright sun would think 'you don't see that everyday' XD
The next two lines sound like whoever she's singing about was never really hers in the first place - because she fell in love with the dream of what she imagined he'd be like.
Also, how come Britney's really good and meaningful songs never get more than 6 or 10 comments?
