I'll Be Yours

It sounds to me, at least, that he's speaking in first person only he's a drug (whether this is a stimulate or depressant, it varies). For instance, he starts with "I'll be your water. Bathing you clean. With liquid peace" he's referring to alcoholics then the following line is "I'll be your reefer. You'll breathe me in. You won't release" he isn't being metaphorical. Instead, he's being literal with the idea that drugs can creep into your life, and start taking the place of the most fundamental necessities (water, breathing). What solidifies this idea for me is the line, "So I'll be your liquor. Demons will drown and float away". Often, or typically I should say, you hear people drink to get rid of the demons. Here, it's implied the liquor will completely wash away any present sorrows the person is feeling.

This song to me is not about drugs or disease or even vampires... It's about love. A weird sort of love. Or of seeing someone who you absolutely love in pain. 'I've seen you suffer, i've seen you cry the whole night through/ so I'll be your water, bathing you clean in liquid blue'. That alone implies that he feels the need to just take the person away from their problems, suspend reality for them.

In a more macabre sense, it's kind of got this theme of "drugging" someone to make them feel better...not really fixing anything, just making yourself everything for that person, sort of a codependent relationship.

And i'm rambling. But I guess it makes some weird sort of sense.

Yeah, and proffessing complete love for someone, as though they'll be everything for this person - 'I'll be your father, I'll be your mother, I'll be your lover, I'll be yours'

I think this song is a beautiful love song.

It's right up at the highest point of the love story value spectrum: intimacy. You know your partner so well that you've seen every good and bad part of him ('Well I've seen you suffer. I've seen you cry The whole night through'), and you love them so much that you'll take on the role as their father (strong), their mother (comforting) and their lover (making them happy), because no matter what happens you'll be theirs forever.

The protagonist is fully committed to his loved one, and even though they go through a very bad time at that very moment ('I've seen you cry for days and days'), they are prepared to do what it takes to help and support their love: 'So I'll be your liquor. Demons will drown and float away.' = Alcohol helps to disinfect wounds. And he wants to be their anchor to keep them at the healing shore and not to get out on the stormy sea.

It's a beautiful love declaration.

I think this is showing how he's turned to alcohol to solve his problems, and how he takes comfort and solace in it, as most people do with their parents

I think this song is about a fatal disease taking over someones body , and the disease is narrating the song. pretted screwed up but thts what i first thought of.

"ill be you ether youll breathe me in you wont release"

they will breathe in the disease and never be able to let it go. the effect of being told about something so life changing and never being able to think the same again

"well ive seen you suffer, ive seen you cry the whole night through"

could be someone grieving over the fact that they are going to die.

"ill be your father, ill be your mother ill be you lover , ill be yours"

is how the disease is going to take over everything she/he has and affect everything that she/he knows.

"and i'll be your anchor , youll never leave shores that cure"

meaning the disease will hold he/she back in whatever they do, it will never leave them to live a normal life.

this is totally off the cuff, but maybe the narrator is a vampire addressing the most recent person he/she bit. i'm not weird, it's just what i think

when he says "demons will drown and float away" do you think he's referring to overpowering anything else wrong with the victim, or could he maybe be referencing cures and the disease considers them demons

I agree with BrilliantSavvy. This is one of the most loving songs I've heard. To me it seems to be about the way love can be a better escape than any drug in the world.
