i talked to tom once and he said that it was about media and the impact it has on society... as well as big events such as war, religion...etc.
yeah, i agree. The average citizen has would not be able to follow him, and even more so in "The Politics of Starving" when he talks about the IMF and how inhumane we are, he's far more educated than most would be led believe, he just doesn't have the documentation.

i don't think that it should be "this isn't advancement, this enertainment" it should be how tom has it, i think he is being sarcastic because watching people getting killed in a war isn't advancement or entertainment.
