Broken

This man has never quite fit in ("I grew up to be an unwanted weed"). He has also had many lives ("7 lives of a man passed before me") and as many loves ("7 graves, one for every love I had") but he only loved one of them ("Only once, I have broken my so-called heart"). Metaphorical or literal, who's to say? Anyway, he sacrificed himself for that one ("Held a torch for you when lightning stroke me") and paid dearly for it("hope I died for the last time").

He believes that he can only do harm ("Until I find a new life to ruin again), but still yearns for her love. However, she doesn't know all there is to know about him, and he's scared she won't love him if she does know. ("Got a sign, not a scar...", "I am not quite the man you take me for", "If only I could tell you everything...", etc."). Therefore, he wants to hurt her so he can prove that she loves him, but also to drive her away ("Show me that you care and have a cry") and in the end, accomplishes his objective and becomes a hardened, loveless shell. ("Bless this night with a tear, for I have none I fear.")

In other words, this song is very sad.

I think it's about something fiction. Vampire or a werewolf,(Only one I have a thing greater than you, Little light on the sky every night), i think this little light is the moon We know that vampire and werewolf needs the moon. (Got a sign, not a scar, on my shoulder, I am not quite the man you take me for?) maybe this "sign" is a vampire bite. And the rest is like what you all said, he can't die but still fells in love and watches how is loved passes away

It sounds like he's in love with a girl who doesn't love him as much as he does her.

This is my favorite song from SA. I love it. But I just cant help but think that the drums in almost every one of their songs sounds the same.

I think that the man who cannot die (7 lives of a man passed before me) or is sent back when he dies (Heaven's closed Hell's sold out) and that his loved ones all died before him (7 graves...) altough he only loved one of them, probably the first.

I think the man has eternal life ("Once again, hope I died for the last time") - He cannot die though he wants to, since the people he loves (Probable his women) have to die, but he doesn't, so they must just to leave him alone. He sacrificed his life for her, but it was worthless since he can't die and she must. Maybe there's a clue in the phrase "Do you really know me? I might be a God". Maybe he's actually something close to a god (In some way), but he wants her to understand him and to be close to him as if he was human. It also seems that he hates himself and feels guilty. "...Until I find a new life to ruin again" The Heaven, as well as Hell, are closed in front of him, so he doesn't have the opportunity to choose, and has to stay on earth - seeking himself or some kind of love.

reminds me somewhat of highlander... an immortal, 'ruining' the lives of people he loves... still, an awesome song by SA, i just love them and their lyrics

well.... I always thought that it was a song about a demon or sth who was cursed to kill each girl who loved him and then die and be born again to do the same stuff... But he fell in love with the 7th girl and he didn't wish to kill her... However he was cursed to do so and he did it and then he died... But now that i read the above my point sounds kinda idiotic... I love that song anyway!!

i think girl fell in love with him, wants to marry him a and give him a child (Force me the Ring and own me, Guess you found what you´d think would oblige me) but her pregnancy is actually cause of her death (little version of me to consume you). Maybe through her child he is reborn again. Great song

Its a very straight-foward song... I think its about an immortal who wants to be human: "Hope I died for the last time" Then he meats a girl and he loves her a lot, more than his previous loves, who have all died. I also get the feeling that she's dying, because he's explaining everything.
