I think the man has eternal life ("Once again, hope I died for the last time") - He cannot die though he wants to, since the people he loves (Probable his women) have to die, but he doesn't, so they must just to leave him alone.
He sacrificed his life for her, but it was worthless since he can't die and she must.
Maybe there's a clue in the phrase "Do you really know me? I might be a God". Maybe he's actually something close to a god (In some way), but he wants her to understand him and to be close to him as if he was human.
It also seems that he hates himself and feels guilty.
"...Until I find a new life to ruin again"
The Heaven, as well as Hell, are closed in front of him, so he doesn't have the opportunity to choose, and has to stay on earth - seeking himself or some kind of love.
