I Must Be Hateful Lyrics
I can't make the damn phone ring
It's simply pathetic if I call you anymore
I can figure it now we tallied our scores I got knocked out
I know when you come to town
I know where you drop your dime and whom it's for
I'm not good enough to time your cup of coffee 15 years
... was long enough
Look at me. I'm an old colleague
Another hard knocks day acquaintance
Finally you are free of me
It must be true or you'd give a minute
But it's always my fault
Always it's your forgiveness
This unbalanced resolve
I must be hateful
So I hang up the phone
Call it a small sacrifice
You still hear me now
Dear you, the vinyl it was blue
Stalking poor Blake commiserating drunks at sea
Do you remember when Jawbreaker rocked "The boat"? I'm sure you do
...and don't
Look at me. I'm an old fly buddy
Just a blue coach class acquaintance
Finally you are free of me
It must be true 'cause it only makes sense
I can still see you now
Pictures are in every town
I can still write it down
"I must be hateful"
I can hang up the phone
Even at those lofty heights
You still hear me now
It's simply pathetic if I call you anymore
I can figure it now we tallied our scores I got knocked out
I know where you drop your dime and whom it's for

to me its not about jawbreaker, but the time of jawbreaker. recalling old times with old friends. and being sad that they have drifted appart as much as they did.
I always sung along to this song thinking it was a break-up song!!but yea i can see how it could also be old friends drifting apart. that words that say "i hang up the phone" sort point towards a bad break-up in woteva the relationship was. i think its about bad air between once good friends who neva really got over it and go through life being stubborn and not fogiving...correct me if im wrong but i think its a hard song to interpret!
It's not a tribute to Jawbreaker, it's about a lost friend. Joey sings about this guy in almost every album.
Sounds like a tribute to Jawbreaker ;)
this song is about joey's ex gf he asked to marry him. She said no after they had been together for 15 years. She also cheated on him with dude from jawbreaker....hense the mention of them rocking the boat and the name blake.
You know that or is it just your interpretation? Cause it sound pretty believable to me.
