Spade Lyrics
The beauty spot was borrowed and
Now my sweet knife rusts tomorrow .
I'm a confession that is waiting to be heard.
Burn your empty rain down on me
Whisper your deathbeat so softly
We bend our knees
At the altar of my ego
You drained my heart
And made a spade
But there's still traces of me in your veins
You drained my heart
And made a spade
But there's still traces of me in your veins
All my lilies' mouths are open
Like they're begging for dope
And hoping
Their bitter petal chant,
"We can kick, you won't be back."
I'm a diamond that is tired
Of all the faces I've acquired
We must secure the shadow
Ere the substance fades
You drained my heart
And made a spade
But there's still traces of me in your veins
And we said 'til we die
And we said 'til we die
You drained my heart
And made a spade
But there's still traces of me in your veins
You drained my heart
And made a spade
But there's still traces of me in your veins
You drained my heart
And made a spade
But there's still traces of me in your veins

You drained my heart, and made a spade. But there's still traces of me in your veins
I think this is just a referance to a garden. A bleeding heart is a plant, so it's like someone killied the plant. My second reason for thinking it's about a garden is of "and made a spade." A spade is a gardening tool, a pointy shovel. Also spades in a card deck originate from tarot when theywere originally swords. Swords stad hearts, or cut bleeding ones. And "there's still traces of me in your veins". I think this is his strongest metaphore in the song. From the outside it looks like love and then having it broken, but I thought of it as veins of a plant. The blood (BLEEDING hearts) is contained in the veins. And the lines remind me of poet Fredrich Holderlin, who opened his own veins one day to 'water a rose tree.'
pretty good interpretation, and seems like something manson would do. hidden meaning within meaning or whatever. but the problem is you seem to have based it solely on the chorus, as the verses don't have anything to do with gardens. sorry for the bad english...lol my english sucks on internet stuff like this, but it's really good when i'm writing something more important. lol i dunno. (the spell checker on this site recognizes dunno but not lol...weird)

@NijWij Lyric is about Spade from card of course, she took his heart ♥ , drain it from live/color and made spade ♤ from it. Also second verse of the song refers to one of the stories of Edgar Allan Poe I think. I would like to complete the text with an initial monologue; [Opening Woman's voice]: Both of us aren't going to last. I'm not going to talk to him. I tell him to feel while I have a bad idea about doing this. He molds and twists trying to keep back the feelings welling up and up. But I realize why he did this to me. Don't listen to them when they ask for forgiveness. Don't accept their apology. Take what you need from them and let them know you have someone else. The tears you shed are the tears of millions. It all ends now.
Well I don't know why people state MM as the king of suicide. What I got out of his songs were mostly huge critics to society, system and the rich. However I like the view of NijWij of the song. I think before someone really wants to say something about MM's songs he ought to do some research (as with SOADs' songs). Did anyone learn here in school how to interprete peoms? Sometimes it doesn't seems to me like it. About "respecting others opinions". I can state an opinion as real crap if the person can't really proove to me his point by the text itself. One should really learn from NijWij who is one of the rare kind to really show and proove his point by the peom/song itself.
So long ;)
The more emotional song on the album, I guess.
The best song on the album,by a fucking mile. The rest of the album was a bit of a let down>i was really dissapointed when i first heard it,i expected so much more from the big M.
First as a huge MM fan, i want to say that this is an awsome song... Second, DagoBoy, your a moron, Razormasticator is right, this CD was a let down. Musically it was great, but the quality of the lyrics is low, Manson as the king of suicide, violence and provocitive music made an album of songs full of glam and lust. any TRUE manson fan SHOULD feel disssapointed by this album!
the album was in some ways a self-parody, that's why the lyrics are ridiculous

Every one of you is a fucking dumbass! To each his own...you really need to learn to respect each others opinions.
Also, people change, BlackDragonsFire, maybe MM got tired of singing about violence and being the "king of suicide" so he decided to try out something new. Any TRUE Manson fan should realize and respect that.
Now, I myself liked this album...just not as much as Mechanical Animals or Holy Wood. If anyone thinks otherwise that is fine with me.
{Rotten}ViVica: I completely concur. You spoke my mind.
i want it played at my funeral i almost cried listening to this song. very fucking beautiful
this was a really frickin good song, but this album in my opinion, was a let down, not many people sing abou the things that manson does, pain and suicide is what people who listen tomanson look for an this album was not it, there were a few good songs and thisis the new shit and doldiggabuzzbuzzzigityzagg ar both very cathy but otherwise, this album was a let down for many manson fans... we looked for bitter and grotesque, and didn ot find much of it in this album.
i have a few comments to make: 1) To Dagoboy- please don't use gay as a deroggatory word. And everyone is entitled to their own opinion so if someone doesnt agree with what you beleive why are they "gay"? In my opinion, that is wrong. 2) "any TRUE manson fan SHOULD feel disssapointed by this album!" who are you to say wha a "true Manson fan" should and should not like? Although i personally agree with you that the album was a bit of a let down.
3) Does anyone think that Manson is trying to express that he is tired of what he has been and chaning what he is and is standing for? "Im a diamond that is tired of all the faces i've aquired" I think Manson is definatly calming down.
a few lines in this song somewhat express things about his career "We bend our knees at the altar of my ego"=ALTAR of my EGO= alter-ego- people either hate or love him for his shocking stage persona, and the things he says in songs (Marilyn Manson), but fail to recognize the real person (Brian Warner.

my favourite song on the album
